What about the important last two years ??

Let’s see those figures

Then the last season alone ..

Fine, compare the last 2 years to Busi and Arthur (of course he only has one year at Barca, use Brazil for a year if you like), or compare with de jong. how many big goals or assists to those guys have to their name?

In terms of what offensive punch whatsoever in midfield from Barca the last two years you got it from Rakitic, Paulinho, Vidal and Iniesta. Maybe we would get some from Coutinho if he played there--but we don't seem to want to try that. Anyone who says they know the best 3 for the midfield for next year is delusional, we won't know until we see the combinations--I am sure they players and coaches don't even know yet, let alone the peanut gallery.

Why on earth are you comparing the goal threat of Busqs ( our holding midfielder) with Rakitic ( the elusive scarlet pimpernel ... they seek him here they seek him there ... where is he when they need an option to pass to )

Lol, BBZ8800, a midfielder's main role is not to score goals, but the connect the game and to provide options for passes off the ball. Arthur does it far better than Rakitic.

This is the end of the conversation. Passing, smart movement, and technique is better than the average shot from outside the box once every 10 games. Rakitic scored 3 goals in La Liga last season. One was irrelevant, in a 8-2 win vs Huesca. One was in the dying minutes of the game vs Sevilla when match was done basically.

The only important goal he scored was in the 1-0 win way to Madrid.

I think with a new trainer it would be easier to get rid of him but with valverde around it will be next to impossible. Valverde will try to keep him and also start him again next season.

i'll say again i wouldn't mind keeping him this season but only under the condition of de jong starting ahead of him,he can still be of use in rotation

Oh wow, those 3 goals from rakitic in la liga. What a clutch player. As we all know, his goals have unlocked defenses. Now lets take a closer look at those 3 goals.

-Barca vs Huesca: scored the 5th goal in an 8-2 victory. WOW, so clutch.
-Barca vs Sevilla: scored the 4th goal when it was 3-1 in 88th minute. WOW, so clutch.
-Madrid vs Barca: scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory. His rare good performance in 38 games. But then again, Madrid are not a parked bus team, so that doesn't fit your narrative.
-Almost all his assists are late in the match when we are comfortably winning by 2,3, or 4 goals. You can go check them on the trasnfermarkt site. Cant be arsed to write it for you.

So, if we base his performances on BBZ stats alone, his attacking contribution is useless for 30/38 games in La liga. But dont forget, stats dont tell the whole picture. Because those who watch the games know he lacks much more.

But the way you speak, you make it sound as if his goals were soooooo crucial to our la liga win

I also like how you didn't include Vidal in your stats, who is a CM like him. He has already contributed same goals and assists (3g and 7assists) in less minutes than Rakitic. And he is a much better defensively too.

But you chose to compare Rakitic, a CM, with Busquets a DM. Nice narrative you got there.

Great post.

With EV still at the helm, that's pretty much impossible. And it's not like we have many more high profile players we plan on selling, so we might as well sell someone as dispensable as Rakitic is now and get some real money to help with any further signings.

With Griezmann here now i would try and sell Suarez too but no way that's gonna happen this summer already (hopefully in 2020). The same could be said for Rakitic with De Jong now here, but the difference is, we still need a quality impact sub for attack, and Suarez can be that this season like Xavi was in midfield in his last season here in 2015, and hopefully this will also be Suarez's last season here.

We have much more depth in midfield though, with Vidal still here to add experience alongside Busquets, while Alena and Puig as the youth, waiting for a chance, and with FDJ and Arthur hopefully being our main midfielders (not to mention Roberto able to cover there as well in case of injuries), so we can afford to lose Rakitic more at this point if we were to choose only one of Rakitic/Suarez, although like I said I wouldn't mind both of them being gone this summer already. But they both absolutely need to be out by this time next year.

Maybe a Chinese club will come in for Suarez !?
TalkSport reported today that one of them has offered Gareth Bale 1.3 million per WEEK !?!?

Onda Cero, says Valverde doesn't want him sold, but it depends on the Neymar situation, as he is an option to be one of the players to be exchanged.
