Rakitic is going to be our new Gomes if we desperately need a goal. I bet Ernie will throw him out instead of a forward. Like giving a monkey a gun.

Now that Valverde has well and truly binned his obsession for him he can still be a very useful squad player.
No need to sell him to Juve for 10m or the likes to simply to get him away from the evil boogeyman Valverde. His wages are still quite manageable as well.

I think the club will just knock back on Juventus' door and send him on loan with an obligation to buy as it was reported back on Monday.
Apparently Rakitic had agreed to go to Italy but they only offered Emre Can in exchange, and since we didn't want Can and wanted him to join PSG instead, no deal was settled.
Now the back up plan in on again.

Without Neymar joining wages shouldn't be that problematic so i don't think they'll send Rakitic away for free even though there are too many midfielders so if anything it should be a sale or loan+obligation.
Could otherwise still sell a player in the winter window, if Rakitic keeps sitting on the bench he might even be the one that wants to go then.

Rakitic won’t accept being a squad player, especially after being a starter for so long. Also based on his “my position is taken” comments when asked about De Jong I’m sure him being benched will hurt his pride. That’s why I believed he was for going to PSG.

Good luck selling Rakitc in 3 days without giving him for free. Wouldn't be surprised if we'd have to pay his salary too. And then convince Rakitic to uproot his family in those 3 days as well.
Every team out there knows that we want to get rid and that he warmed the bench for 2 straight matches so we'll be lowballed like hell. Basically offers of loan options without obligations to buy from Italians team is what we'll get.
We had to chase Neymar for half the summer though.

Ivan is a great player who's played many matches here. Nothing makes me think he won't be here [this season]. It's true he didn't play the other day but likewise Busquets in the game before that one. The season is long and there's a place for everyone.

Moises LLorens says he's just about the only possible departure before the transfer window closes.
He said there's a chance Rakitic leaves for PSG as a standalone transfer if the Neymar deal does not happen.
There's also Juventus interest from last week. Let's wait and see.

QSG apparently offering Rakitic 16M salary, so double the wages and starting spot. Now we just gotta get them to give us that 50M fee, and be done with it.

Agreed with the sentiment but I feel 50 would be too much. I'd sell for 25.
How much did Real sell Khedira for again? And he was much younger...
