Croatia has other options no? The guy from Inter, Kovacic,...probably more..?

Kovacic is injured, but he is usually our 4th option. Our strongest midfield is Modric-Brozovic-Rakitic. Unfortunately this is a really shitty move by Rakitic and what's even worse he has done the same thing two times in a row.

I can't understand why he doesn't say "I am IN the Cro-team" or "I am OUT of the Cro-team". This is a realy bad move. people will turn on him---

Because he doesn't know in advance if Raquel will allow him to go or not. It depends how she feels in that particular moment. :D Joking aside I agree this is the dumbest thing he could have done at the moment. He should either say he won't play anymore or he needs to be there when called. If he didn't want to play anymore he should have said goodbye after the WC but since he didn't everyone counted on him. This guy will ruin his legacy by acting like a total idiot. It's obvious Dalic is loosing his patience with him.

I was sure he was leaving but as things stand right now he will continue at Barca. I doubt anything will dramatically change in the last 8 hours and in that case it doesn't make any sense at all to cancel NT duties because "he needed to resolve his future". Transfer window will be closed today so WTF is he talking about?!

Surprise, surprise!

It's yet another MD article by Fernardo Polo, who may as well be Rakitic's official mouthpiece; saying he's adamant he won't leave.

It seems Juve wanted Rakitic plus money for Bernardeschi, and that we're not* willing to do.

Apart from that, Rakitic has largely become an unwanted commodity for both the club and the market it seems - no decent suitors or offers all summer.

Anyway, the board won't be happy with that bloated midfield and Rakitic's refusal to leave on top of that.

Only offer we got for him was a trade deal. Unwanted player for unwanted player.

Strange considering he's the Frank Lampard of Football in the 2010s. Every team know that he's finished.

It seems we're the ones approaching Juve as well, hence they're asking for Rakitic plus money for their bit-part player.

It just shows our desperation.

while i'm all for offloading him since two seasons ago, i also understand why he wouldn't want to leave. when you tasted life in sevilla and barcelona it is hard to let go.

also, like all of us, players are employees that have a contract. he is a model professional and can't be forced out of the club if he doesn't breach his contract.

He is not finished, he can still play good football when challenged. Trouble is, Barca don't know how to sell and Rakitic finds it hard to leave Spain because of his wife.

Valverde is a an idiot who played him all the time and ruined motivation and now is being a pussy for not playing him at all (even though he loves him) because it's not him who decides who plays.

Spot on.

Seems like he's staying.

Perhaps this could end up being a good down to earth experience for him. Perhaps it can motivate him to fight for a spot instead of feeling entitled to be a starter due to past reputation and the fact we have a coach who folds under pressure like a lawn chair.

Only position I'll play him is at CDM so he has Busquets and de Jong to compete against there.

At CM I'll have Vidal any day over him. Just way more athletic.
