I admit im way too critical of him, but I got a feeling that if we sign him we'll lose a lot of hair over his performance. Athletic's defense is absolute crap at times so they may drag him with the collective performance, maybe a move to Barca and playing with our defense (which hopefully as good as last 2 seasons) would elevate him. A lot of IFs tho... in the end i'll trust Zubi and Tito if they chose to go with him.

Its understandable for a 23 year old who is naturally a midfielder, he will learn with more experiance playing as a CB and spends time with Puyi if he signs that is,its no surprise that a midfielder converted into a defender has these problems of being rash in tackle.

This could be due to the bad discipline in Athletic's defense, on the other hand he could be the reason the discipline in the defense is so shit at times.

New Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova has identified Martinez, who can play in defence and midfield, as his top transfer priority this summer.
Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta met with Athletic president Josu Urrutia last week to open negotiations, but the Basque club are seemingly unwilling to sanction any offers lower than £31.3m, which is the fee set in Martinez’s release clause.
However, Barcelona, who completed the signing of Spain left-back Jordi Alba earlier this summer, are unable to offer more than £20.3m and will offer rookie goalkeeper Oier Olazabal in their bid to sign Martinez.
And according to Spanish newspaper Sport, Barcelona know they must sell players to fund their pursuit of Martinez, with Liverpool targets Ibrahim Afellay and Cristian Tello touted to make way for the Athletic Bilbao man

leave it there dude that was a response to a person who based his opinion on PES I wouldn't judge a player based on Fifa there are some ridiculous stuff in it but it was just meant to prove that we shouldn't base our opinion completely based on anything other than what we see in reality.

Btw. Few days ago Bayern had Martinez valued at about 20 mil. if we are to trust the press.
