Javi Martínez

Puyol the wall

I have mixed feelings regarding signing Martinez,he would be great for us even as a CB but its just that we are gonna deprive him from playing in his best position that is why i wouldn't mind paying a bit more to get Hummels instead.

Whilst i prefer a natural CB over Javi. I like the 2 fold-advantage that Javi brings. He can play as a CB, but also fit in as our DM (a back-up to Busi) better than Mascherano. And we wouldn't 've to waste Thiago there either. But if Javi comes, Masch has to go. He'll be taking away our youngster's chances.

Better than Mascherano!? He will have to go?! Get the hell outta here...

That's not a very compelling counter-argument i'm afraid. :p

Javi 'd be a better DM for our system than MAsch. Our midfield play has suffered everytime the latter has started there. He's a "destroyer" rather than a ball-playing DM which is what we need. Masch can only play well in one position for us: i.e CB. If Javi is signed as a CB, i don't like the idea of Masch being a back-up and in the process consuming vital playing time of our cantera.

This world doesn't know the meaning of loyalty i guess well he is a beast nonetheless selling him is not an option if we are serious of winning trophies next season after all the injury problems we had selling Masch will be suicide regardless of whether Javi signs or not.

Don't forget the world includes you. And were you not the one caught downgrading Puyol in the TR thread (although on surface you're a puyol fan)?

Masch's reasons and manner of departure from Liverpool is well-documented. So i wouldn't really say he's an embodiment of loyalty. Except for the core of this team, everyone else on the roster is dispensable. Don't let your personal liking for a player impede rational thought.

Improvin' Perfection!!
I don't understand why we can't have both Masch and Javi... It'd still be just Pique, Masch and Javi along with an ageing Puyi. So I don't think it's gonna hurt the youngsters chances much.
Besides, I get the feeling that Tito won't be playing many of the youngsters in his first season... He's got the minimal room for errors so he won't be taking any kind of chances and his statements about the selling of players reiterates that.
