Jean-Clair Todibo

I think this deal and Alenas deal show that Valverdes sack was a panic move and not really thought through. Which is absolutely bizarre, considering we did not want to sack Valverde after Copa and Anfield, which were considerably worse games performance wise, much larger humiliations and so much higher stakes games than this new format Supercopa semifinal. Board of one of the most successful clubs should not act like this, must be something else going on in backround, perhaps Messi calling Barto and saying, get rid Valverde or who knows what. Which is in essence also something that should not happen.

We have 5 CB options even in this moment:
1. Pique
2. Lenglet
3. Umtiti
4. FRENKIE DE JONG
5. Araujo

We really shouldnt shove our most reliable midfielder into defense. But generally I would trust the club regarding Todibo, hardly the worst decision ever. I just hope we go for a topclass cb next transfer window.

What the fuck, let's just add Stegen there too. Good at set pieces, as long as he remembers to not put his hand on the ball.

Frenkie is quality as CB. Main problem with Frenkie is just we need him to much as a CM. I could see Frenkie-Semedo as a WC-combination, just need a good coach to make it work.

Ter Stegen
Roberto-Semedo/Pique-Frenkie-Alba/Semedo
----------Sergio/Frenkie
------Puig/(Alena)-----Arthur
---------------Messi
---------------------------Griezmann
--------Dembele

Can't be the only one seeing the potential of such a set-up.

I know, people will say: no, we can't let Frenkie play in defense.
That is just in emergency case, if Pique and Lenglet would be out, we could survive with Umtiti-Frenkie for 2 matches.

So:
1. if Todibo stayed: we already have 3 CB options who will be rotated and Todibo wouldn't get more than 2-5 matches till the end of a season
So, not a good option for his development.
2. if Todibo leaves: we still have 3 good CBs and 2 bonus options in Frenkie and Araujo, so we will survive unless if a freaky injury crisis happens (but then, imagine if Suarez and Messi get injured. When things like that happens, you are screwed either way).

I know that it is popular to blame a stupid board and a coach for everything, but in this case, this was a perfectly reasonable decision:
1. both for Todibo's development and playing time where he could get 10-20 matches till the end of a season
2. and for Barca

:lol::lol:

A hatred for youth so strong, he's willing to sacrifice a top class midfielder to play as a makeshift defender just so another youth player can't play and POSSIBLY develop.

Loan to Schalke until June 2020 where they can buy him for 25m+5. Barca then have a 50m+10 buy back.

So if he develops well we will have to spend 25m to get him back..... niiiiceeee

This should mean that Schalke now has incentive to play him quite often to see if they can fork 25m for him in the summer.

Not a good deal. 25m is a bit too much, but I am not bothered. We have Araújo who has a very similar profile.
