Jeremy Mathieu demands to leave Valencia
The player wants to seal his switch to the Camp Nou as soon as possible
Jeremy Mathieu has called for Valencia to let him move to Barcelona.
The French centre-back has been the Blaugrana's top target to boost an ailing backline, with PSG's Marquinhos proving difficult to get.
He wrote: "
At no time did I intend to get into a confrontation with Valencia, such is the love and respect I have for this institution and its magnificent fans.
"I have spent five seasons at this club and I am grateful for its confidence in me, throughout the time I have been here."
Mathieu insists that he is telling the truth about the situation so people do not believe rumours or false speculation.
"
I do not hide that for me this is a step forward in my career in every way. "It is a reward for my work, my effort, and it is a unique opportunity that any player would like to take," he continued.
"I came to Valencia five seasons ago and
this transfer would be benefit all parties involved. During my time here I have always tried to do my best but it's time I moved forward and ended a cycle which I will always carry in my heart. I will be eternally grateful no matter what.
"I completely deny the accusations put towards me, claiming I am a rebel and refuse to train. Any professional in football understands perfectly they do not want to run the risk of being injured while negotiations for a possible transfer are taking place."
He added: "
I've never been a controversial person and I will not be now, I only ask for respect and for it to be understood there is a situation which would be beneficial to all parties, which can be successfully resolved without controversy or misunderstanding. When I renewed my contract with Valencia last year the president promised to let me go if there was a good deal for me, which is currently the case."
Mathieu says he will always have Valencia in his heart and in his skin, but this is the time for him to leave.
