Come to conclusion that City is well positioned in this negotiation.

With the Saudi window closing Sept 20, there's no chance of trying to play this out till end of window to get the deal we want. In the end, Mendes would probably work a move to SA for his client if a Barca move doesn't work out.

Sticky point right now is that City want us to pay a loan fee + obligatory transfer fee north of 50m (ignore the catalan shitholes).

We should have landed Fresneda already, and then have him go on loan IF Cancelo comes in. Or even better, tie him up for after 1st Sept (like we tried with Guler) so he doesn't affect this summer budget.

In the end, unless we cough up what City want, real chance we miss out on both targets with Sporting Lisbon having more or less agreed a fee with Valladolid.
