John Stones

Thats the right time then. If we want him, this summer should be it. Otherwise, he will be another marquinos case.

Perhaps, even though I still believe he'd be too expensive this summer.
However that really wasn't my point, as I was arguing that that he's just not that solid a CB at this point in time as some people would have us believe.

Samuel Umtiti would definitely be a better fit for us than Stones. Umtiti is a left footer and has more experience, while still being only 22.

What does left footed add to anything?our starting CBs are both right footed . if you are good enough for CB it won't matter your prefered leg
And if you mean that he would be able to play LB then I am not really sure we need a CB/LB compo .very few Abidal's out there and I might be interested in true LB to be Alba back up

considering the huge offers they rejected last summer ,this might be already a Marquinhos case .you can't pay 50M+ for a 22 years old CB who is yet to play a CL game and coming from different league .
Chelsea,City,Manu will be all after him next summer

Umtiti is the new Abidal IMO. Same nationality, from the same club, can play LB and CB, left footed, fast and strong and excellent on the ball.

People are also saying that we should pay ridiculous money to sign Laporte, when he's been nothing but average at best for a LONG time now. Stones has shown way more potential than Laporte and is more comfortable on the ball.

I don't like the idea of signing any of the two due to their inflated fees.

what ever the price now, but once sold to chelsea or manutd, he will not be available at all. Young such CBs are not easy to get for barca, and with this current lot, i think we should be in market for one.

I would want stones out of all young players named here. Unless there is some hidden gem, barca scouts have identified and hopefully one that we sign and not leave it for madrid to thank us on twitter for scouting.

I've been shouting about Stones for 18 months but people in here just laugh because he's English !

Nothing to laugh about, he's a terrific prospect but Barcelona would never pay the fee needed to pry him away from other English clubs...20-25 million sure but he will go for much more in the Premiership where quality local talent is scarce

Plus English defenders would struggle to adapt to the Primera

He will go for about 50 million

with Everton players you need to badly overpay to get their best players.
