Come to think of it, it is absolutely unbelievable and inexcusable that Alba doesn't have a replacement, that we don't have another LB. How did the board/Zubi allow it to get to this?

Its not suprising,tall players usually have a higher top speed than shorter ones, but they use time to get up to speed. Of course there are many exceptions and its not a given. Pique, who many regards as slow, im quite sure he is not slow at all, if he is allowed the time to run over a distance. Then there are slow players who are tall as well, and then there are players like Walcott(dont think he is over 180) who is very fast.

We've got Grimaldo, but that's pretty much it. He's a much better passer of the ball and is more confident with the ball at his feet but he doesn't come close to Alba's speed. He'd honestly be our best backup option overall imo since he's the only actual LB we've got aside from Alba, but since Pep left it's become clear the club would for some reason rather crash and burn than take a risk and use a B team player in these situations. At one point we were even using Song and Mascherano as our CB pairing when we had Bartra on the bench.
If you take a step back and look at it, we've only got subs for keeper, center back, and midfield. With Xavi leaving we basically won't even have any subs for our midfield come next season, too, unless we promote Samper and convert him to CM.
The squad is hilariously thin. There's no denying that.

What happened to Alba? I dont watch Barca that often, but 2-3 years back he was regarded as a worldclass lb, along with Marcelo, Ashley cole etc.

Alba had an Abductors injury during the spain game against ukraine.
So we're now realizing we have no one to replace him with ^^

So Montoya and Adriano.as fullbacks against PSG???we are fucked..
To be fair they'll be missing Ibra and Verratti in the first game too.. so let's say it's more equilibrated now haha
I think (hope) Alba will be back at least for PSG..
My mistake, i didnt read to lufts message properly. Thought it had something to do with Alba not being good enough, which is kinda my impression these last couple of seasons anyway, judging by Barca-fans being less than pleased with him in general.
Ibra is hit or miss, he might turn up and do something amazing, or he will be absent and do very little. Verratti is more of a concern for PSG i would say.

I'm one of those dudes where "Let Verm have a shot at it" but when you realize the dude hasn't played in a year so he won't be remotely Match fit yet but Before he did get Injured I think he played LB for Belgium in a match but the same match he got Injured. He needs to be Eased in. I'm guessing depending how long Alba is out it will be Adriano/Mathieu in LB.Wouldn't surprise me if the Board thought "Well we got Adriano so we are all good"
Who knows, many rbs can play decently at lb, so Douglas then?
