You went so far there mate. Mata is great and everything you said is true, but you made Silva look like he's Nasri with your words.

Well my mistake if i made it sound too extreme. I'm not bagging Silva, he's an incredible player and one of the best in the EPL when he's on form.

It makes me feel sick when I realize that we have overlooked such a talented player to go for a more flashy, more hyped up Sanchez... And to think we could have bought him for less than half of what Sanchez cost us!!

I still have faith in Sanchez though, that he has talent to make it big... Only I'm beginning to doubt his mentality!!
And also Mata would have been a more polished, technically superior version of Eto'o :(

May be we could bring back the magic in Sanchez by signing Isla to replace the outbound Dani Alves, but then we have Montoya gearing up to be an awesome player able to cement his place in the first team for years to come

How so? If anything Mata is a more direct, attacking version of Iniesta.
Well that obviously proves that he's more technical.

Anyway my assessment is more of an emotional one actually... Eto'o who was not even a regular home-grown player of Real made them regret so much. Imagine the situation if we had signed Mata!!

Oh i see your point...Yea he'd fit seamlessly into our squad and communicate well since he speaks Spanish and knows all the NT members.

Superior version of eto'o that's a good one.
sarcasm much?

I am not saying he would have made as much impact as a clutch goal scorer per se, he probably could have too but that's not my point... He would have been a good fit to our team which is enough to rub in their faces

Mata is pretty clutch as well. He has played in 3 cup finals in his entire career so far and scored or assisted in every one of them. Assisted and won MOTM in the FA cup final. Assisted the equalizer in the CL final. Scored in the Euro 2012 Final even though he played for less than 10 minutes total.

You can't really count the Euro 2012 final though, Italy were already dead and he only scored due to Torres's unselfishness.

de HYPE all the sudden.
yes he is amazing.
no his not better than silva [onform silva still the bit better], no he's not a 'more direct iniesta' NEVER , no his not the spanish eto'o, no he wouldn't make it into our squad.

LOL!

- He's better than Silva
- He's got a completely different style to Iniesta - totally different player, Iniesta's better with the ball at his feet, but not as effective in the final third.
- Who said he's the 'Spanish Eto'o'? Mata isn't a centre-forward.
- He would comfortably make it into Barcelona's squad seeing how Sanchez, Tello, Song, Pedro, Cuenca etc get games.

Mata would shine even more in that Barcelona side than with us actually, Messi wouldn't have to drop so deep either to pick up the ball. His assist rate would rocket with proper finishers like Messi, Villa and to a lesser extent Pedro ahead of him.

End of the day, Real Madrid's loss is our gain. :p

iniesta not as effective in the final 3rd?

are u ppl being serious, his more efffective in the final 3rd than the man with most assist in europe's top 5 leagues?
'iniesta is better with the ball at his feet' - what does that even mean, iniesta is 9999 better full stop

he plays a role more similar to iniesta on the wing and tracking back to AM, than pedro so the only way to fit him in at barca would be to take out iniesta.

1 bad game and the forum will turn on him

Mata would easily make it into the squad... but probably not as a starter as we have similar players, and we want our wingers too be quick and with good stamina
LOL!

- Who said he's the 'Spanish Eto'o'?
