Juan Manuel Mata

Mata would easily make it into the squad... but probably not as a starter as we have similar players, and we want our wingers too be quick and with good stamina

If you're playing with wingers probably, he's wasted out wide and lacks the stamina (and pace) of Pedro, and no one is ever going to break up the Iniesta/Xavi partnership either (regardless of who they are), though given the sheer amount of possession Barcelona have and their inability to defend, he'd be best suited playing just ahead of Iniesta and Xavi, more akin to the Rijkaard side when Deco got into those positions and caused chaos.

Mata's been one of the standouts whenever he's started for Spain, and I imagine if he were playing in this Barcelona side his stock would be much higher than it current is. Such a clever player, and in fairness, too good for most of his team mates at Chelsea. The number of times he's passed it behind the defence only for someone (i.e Torres) to fuck the move up is infuriating.

Not many would argue with him being the best attacking mid in Europe right now, and he's a great guy too, just like Zola.

He's played well so far this season but IIRC it was the same story last season & then he went to **** for a long long time.

Massive over-reliance on him that's why.

This season Mata, Hazard and Oscar have played 30+ games already, more than Messi, Iniesta, Ronaldo, Xavi, van Persie, Rooney, even Torres who has been our only striker this season until Ba arrived.

We're burning them out and it's not good.

Yeah Mata burnt out last season because he was the only good creative player we had at that time lol. Even now our 3 main ones are being stretched, Marin is failing as per usual and Moses is gone.

Mata is nowhere near Iniesta in talent, but somewhat alike in style because they are both playmakers with great touch and vision. However Mata on left wing with Iniesta on left center mid with Alba bombing up would be a godlike trio. The only sacrifice in that hypothetical situation would be Cesc. Mata is better than Silva imo though. Worse strikers yet he still manages so many key passes and assists whereas Silva isn't always on form.

Yeah but S-N is a United(I think) lover, don't argue with him about anything to do with Chelsea. I've seen plenty of Chelsea fans spout utter rubbish, but anyone even slightly affiliated with United automatically make less sense than any other football fans in the world.

Hell, if Mata was playing for United he'd be getting praised over RVP as the hands down best player in the EPL. We play shit and he's probably considered at least top 3.

Not really a lover, but I do like United over Chelsea. Mostly due to last year's CL.

I'm not really the type of person to judge a player based on the team he is, I wouldn't like Mata as much as you guys do no matter what team he was on. He's a class player, sure, but nothing too amazing in my eyes. Sorry, he's just not my type of guy.

but anyone even slightly affiliated with United automatically make less sense than any other football fans in the world.

Do elaborate on this however, I'm most curious as to why you say that. :)

There's not really much to elaborate on when it comes to trolling, lol. People who love United enough will fall for it, at least I've confirmed you aren't a huge muppet. :p

But I have had the most run ins with United fans though, on the web and irl, I've found them to worst from my own experiences.

Pretty sure Mata didn't play against Swansea in that loss at home, I wonder if he'll try to make up for lost time in the return leg. Hope so, a final against Bradford SHOULD ensure we win at least a Micky Mouse Cup this season.

Fair enough, I seem to have had the worst experiences with biased Madristas arguing that Ronaldo is better than Messi and so on, and Chelsea trolls laughing at us for exiting the CL and mocking tiki taka. But, you're clearly not a troll, I guess we all have different opinions. Cheers. :beer2:
