Evans-----Jones

hahaha. Maybe 10 years ago, in this day and age, I don't think them 2 are good enough. Jones is good, but not Elite, and lol at Evans being the heart of any cb pairing for a club with ambitions of CL and Premiership titles in the modern era.

You need a Hummels/Kompany/Silva to really push on. Perhaps Evans/Jones for a season at most, until you sort yourselves out again perhaps?
Evans was at the heart of defense in our title winning team last season and He's already made more than 170 appearances for us.....I don't see too much wrong in his game......Jones on the other hand is really rash and his decision making is questionable.....I think our full backs and defensive midfielders make our defenders look worse than they are....

That's not impressive. You didn't win in style and you relied super heavily on Van P's goals. things like that won't last forever, and you'll get rolled over by the Elite clubs around Europe. (Real in the CL)
City look a new animal as do Chelsea. I think it'll be FAR more difficult to win it in the manner you did last season. You need to improve, that's obvious. I wouldn't be too bothered about facing Evans and Jones, as much as I would be about facing a Kompany/Mangala potential CB partnership in the future.

I can't quite understand what's going through Mourinhos head.

Yeah, it is a bit strange. Might be that he's sure he'll get Rooney in return, or that he plans to strengthen United to harm Arsenal and City. But of course he would strengthen United for next season as well, which means one title contender more. And Mata there might attract some otherwise impossible players, especially if they do manage to qualify for CL. I think it would be wiser to sell Mata in summer, Rooney's value will depreciate by then and Mou would have even more power in the negotiations.

I will laugh so hard if United sign Mata and Moyes tries to play him as a winger!

My point is we can postpone spending on new defender and focus on getting world class players for midfield...I'd rather spend 80 million on getting Reus and Koke instead of paying 25-30 million on mangala and getting average midfielders/wingers.......A team with Reus(50 million) on wings and Jones and Evans as defenders will be more scary than team with Mangala and Silva(60 million) at the back and Ashley young in the wings....

He'd be a left inferior, just like he was at Chelsea on a handful of occasions. He's capable of interchanging like few others. Cazorla, Ozil, Mata, Iniesta, Bale. All capable of playing just behind a main striker, as an AM, or to either side of an AM.. few are able to produce world class levels in a position they're not accustomed to, but I believe Mata has it in him.

when you put it that way, I agree. Get the attackers you can now... fast forward to the summer, then search for a new defensive rock.

He's a game changer no doubt about that. But I don't think Moyes can get the best of him playing on the flank. I don't see Mata Rooney Van Persie work well together unless Moyes has something in mind to improvise and create something new.

I don't see Chelsea selling this month, unless they get Rooney or have someone lined up to come in and replace Mata, like Reus or Di Maria

A replacement for someone who sits on the bench most of the time?

Chelsea already have many good players competing for that spot.

It seems a big illogical though that Moyes would go for Mata seeing he rejected signing Özil because he "didn't need the position".

I agree, and I wouldn't really trust Moyes to "have something in mind" that would work.

But an injury to Oscar or Hazard would change a lot of things.

I don't see them selling either but I think they have enough players to cover for Mata...Schurrle can play in all three attacking positions and Lampard can play as no 10 if 2 of the 4 are injured...I don't know whether they can call piazon back from his loan at Vittese but he would be good replacement for a reserve player.....

Selling Mata will leave them somehow short in the AM/Wingers position. Lampard can't do it anymore and that will leave only Schurrle on the bench as an attacking option other than strikers.
