Top 3 AMs in the world don't fail to make their national team squads regularly and get chased out of town by Mourinho. He racked up some assist stats in the Europa League while Chelsea were 5th or 6th best team in England under Di Matteo / Benitez. Well done to him.

The problem with Mata is not that he is an AM. The problem with Mata is that he doesn't have the technique to play between the lines. Silva and Özil are doing just fine. In Özil's case it's lazyness and attitude problems that are holding him back, not a quality problem. Still delivered better performances since his injury return than Mata did in his entire career.
Mata is a great freekick taker. I give him that.
