Kylian Mbappé

I don’t understand this logic. CR7 and Messi are still alive. They’re still playing at a high level, right now, today. What Kylian is doing, he’s doing during their reign. I say that to remind everyone that he’s already a legitimate footballing superstar.

If I’m being honest, Messi is the worlds best, but I’d probably take Kylian over CR7 right now.

You are arguing as if users here were writing that Mbappé was a total bum and not the most accomplished 20 year old in the game as he is currently.

I will try again. Maybe I will receive a reply this time around.

There is a difference between rating him, highly at that too, to already comparing him with all-time greats of the game 2.5 seasons into his senior career. Is that so hard to understand or this controversial? I don't get it.

When I see people elsewhere claim that Mbappé is the better 20 year old than R9 was, you think that I can take such claims seriously? Or anyone that watched R9 for that matter.

I mean I agree with you. I'm just saying that I don't think he'll be reaching those heights. I also agree with that he'll keep improving and become a more polished player.

For Mbappe to have the motivation and drive to continually improve each year, he'll need an adversary like Dembele to also be at or near the top of the game.

Messi and CR7 benefited from this from each other. Hence the 10+ BPITW level seasons and, 650+ goals each, and still no signs of substantial decline.

Funny way to spell "Vinicius".

Messi also hit 50 goals...

50 goals in 37 games. Absolutely INSANE numbers that season. 73 goals in 60 games in all competitions and of course the 91 goals in 69 games for the calendar year...... :worthy: Those records won't be broken in a league as superior as La Liga is for decades.

Keep in mind that Barcelona-fans are "special", they are probably the only fans in the world that dont value tap-ins(even if this goal was more than just a tap-in).
No, you have to outplay the opponent with great passing, dribble a couple of players and then chip it over the gk, otherwise the goal is "average".

First off, Mbappe's goal yesterday was not a tap-in so let's get that out of the way.

Speak for yourself. Tap-ins might look effortless but scoring tap-ins requires players to be fully aware of the development of the play so he or she knows where to go or show up to finish the tap-in. That is not easy at all.

As to Mbappe, certainly one of the best young players right now if not the best, but I don't know if he will ever reach Messi/Ronaldo level. Trophy-wise he might be already ahead of those two simply because he has a WC, but I don't know he will remain prolific for a decade like those two. We will just have to wait and see.

What did you just write there Luft?

Already ahead of Messi's endless trophy cabinet and C. Ronaldo's not worser trophy cabinet due to a single World Cup win? What the hell am I reading? I have news for you, the World Cup is not as prestigious as it once was when it was the pinnacle of world football. While it is still prestigious, probably still the most prestigious individual team trophy that a player can win, in terms of level a World Cup campaign is of a lower quality, significantly, than your average CL campaign.

Don't think that such records will be beaten in our lifetime at least. Unless the gulf between top and bottom teams keeps increasing. Also not everything should be about goals otherwise C. Ronaldo has a legitimate claim of being as good as Messi let alone Gerd Müller being part of GOAT discussions while he (rightly) never is.

48 in 35 isn`t too shabby either(14/15), heh, imagine scoring 50 or 48 league goals and still not winning the league.

- I’m responding as if people are referring to his potential, when he’s already one of the worlds best attacking players

- I don’t know if you realize this but he’s actively building an ATG resume/career.

- He doesn’t have to be the same exact player, or be better than R9 to be properly recognized for what he’s doing right now. Mind you, I’m not the one that started these comparisons.

It was a joke(kinda of..) that Barca-fans often call certain players tap-in merhcants without a hint of irony.
