What do you except about player who was destroyed by Firpo while Barca was playing high press and there was 50meters of space?

He can run just without ball.

He's great in open spaces and in transition. Even though he's got great close ball control and dribbling ability, he struggles against deep blocks. Think he needs an elite coach to help him out with it...Mane and Salah were transition players before joining Liverpool

I don't see that great close ball control, I think this area is rather a weakness in his game. And this is why he needs many spaces to do his thing.

For traditional standards, his close control is pretty good, though by no means otherworldly like Messi, Neymar etc, as his body is built very differently. If you compare his close control to, say, Cristiano, he isn't far behind, but if you compare his close control to Leo, of course he looks much weaker

No coach is really going to "help him out with it".

A player dont really become a different kind of dribbler like that, Mbappe may optimize his dribbling more, but he isnt going to change radically.

He won't change radically, true.. that's not what I meant. He can improve in areas (optimization of close control, long shots etc etc) where he can get to find other ways to open up compact defences

There is something sordid about him. Maybe it's the club he's in or something but I wouldn't want him here.

Great player, sure, but no thanx.

Mbappe was awesome at monaco but he didnt really become better since then. If he doesnt step up Haaland will dominate the world football alone.

He did improve, but he stood out more when he was younger cause, well, he was younger so what he did was even more impressive. I agree his progression hasn't been impressive so far, but he is getting better still.

A lot of people trashing him and praising Haaland seem to forget that Haaland hasn't really done much at the highest level yet (I mean in UCL basically), and he's still playing for a second tier team. Having people expecting you to carry a top team to a major trophies is something completely different than being the star of a lesser team with mild pressure. Mbappe took that step from Monaco to PSG, Haaland hasn't taken it yet.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm pretty sure Haaland has what it takes to handle the pressure and be a beast in a major team, but it's not a given yet. He might also struggle to adapt a bit to new expectations, just like Mbappe.
