Of course I didn't, genuinely surprised and flabbergasted he's on pace to reach 20 in a season. Shocker.

It was about proving how much of a slog it is for him to get to this number. If you want to take the W on it, feel free. Get the trumpet out lad

This really wasn’t about me, anyone could have made that bet with you. If you’d change your photo from that first post I made I wouldn’t have spoke about it again, just beating around the bush now. Just get it changed lad.

It's fun to troll Wolfe on this. Especially since Benzema keeps scoring when it matters.

But it's also fun seeing people here argue one thing, while in Suarez' thread they keep arguing the opposite. Benzema does contribute (scores every 135 mins in the league) and Madrid might be shite without him at the moment. But Suarez scored even more (every 125 mins last season, 99 this one). Barca wasn't shit witout him due to a little guy called Messi, Real doesn't have a deus ex machina solution anymore.

But as people argue there he made the team suffer, younger guys playing out of positions running for old legs. Which is true. Benzema comes with a bag of issues of his own. Not helped by Zinedane's stubbornness.

Yeah.. fun double criteria on display. The real problem here is the cost benefit analysis. As in Suarez', so in Benzema's case. Obviously cannot be solved by benching him. Only in the summer.

Agree regarding Suarez's value in LL which has been more than Benz at any point while they've both played in this league. Suarez for some reason has had this horrendous dip in the CL in away games (granted we as a team usually have issues in away games since Lucho's last season). Benz more or less keeps the same level in CL and at times comes up clutch. If Suarez scored even once v Pool or Roma away we might have very well won the CL. It's hard/unfair to pin it all on him of course, but for someone so stellar in LL, it left a bitter taste in some fans

Not quite that similar. People had a problem with us having not one, but two old players up front who were lazy off the ball. Suarez and Messi. Who also happened to be best pals and play for each other, at the expense of the team at times.

Not to mention Suarez "scoring" in Europe which was terrible compared to Benzema. Not to mention Benzema actually being a more hard-working player than Suarez, basically less of a finished player physically.

And even then, considering all these factors, Wolfe's hate on Benzema trumps anyone's hate on Suarez here by a lot .

Yeah, I agree with that. Don't think that keeping Suarez was the solution, even though he might've helped us in the league this season. Also depends on what you do with the squad. Letting go of Suarez didn't set us back (seriously) even though we went for no replacement. Doing the same with Benzema would be silly. Happy it panned out neatly for us, though. We're seeing some progress which wouldn't be there otherwise.

His record in Europe was abysmal, it's not even a question, imo. But the discussion is more focused on domestic competitions since we're not a factor in Europe either way.

To serghei: I don't think the situations are similar, but analogues. Benzema's and Suarez' cases are different. As I said, each comes with issues of his own. You're mostly talking about his individual skills, which I might agree with, but not that relevant to the point. One could argue we'd be better off in the league due to quality gap which would cover for old legs as long as Suarez kept scoring. Similar could be said for Benzema. But they also damage the flow in other ways. Cost benefit, long story short.

The Europe argument is addressed before.

The worst thing about Atletico being on top is that I am invested in their games and watch them from time to time. Its horrible.
