Scored the crucial goal for RM v Bayern in 13/14.

And won them the 17/18 tie. And didn't have their weird streak where he couldn't score away from home in CL for 5 years straight...

Pretty much invented Madrid's qualifying goal on Calderon at 2-3 in the tie too. Just when AM had Madrid on the ropes pushing to tie it on aggregate after that wild start.

Man's been instrumental in most of their CL wins, if not all. The hate against him is hilarious.

It's basically like us hating on Eto'o.

How much I despise BBC's clutchness and arsenal of scoring in CL KOs. Despite MSN having the higher peak, Perez basically racked up 4 CLs with~200 M with BBC...

No problem brother. I'm pretty comfortable. As is Benz with his almighty 15 in 23

Why is that level of production being mocked? 0.65 goals/game ratio is phenomenal. 1 goal/game has never been the standard apart from Messi, Ronaldo and Lewa/Suarez to a certain extent. Strikers scoring anything above once every two games have usually been considered world class or somewhere near it.

Because it's not put in context of the amount he doesn't convert or the fact that the whole team is playing to him as the outlet. Put a better finisher in that circumstances and the ratio is easily 1 or over

Easy to say that, but not as simple as it seems. Another striker may seem more clinical, but likely won't position himself for as many chances, nor score as many goals. How many relatively young strikers in world football (under 30) can you say are a good bets to hit 20 league goals? Kane, Lukaku, Haaland, Mbappe? The former two aren't big enough names for Madrid to pay big money for and the latter are the two most coveted young players in Europe likely to cost upwards of 150m.

I can understand wanting to bin the lad to build a better system, start a new cycle etc. I wanted Suarez gone for similar reasons, but I was under no illusion that his production was going to be replaced by any other single player.

A ratio over 1 is 38 league league goals. How many times has that feat ever been accomplished in the top 4 leagues? Hardly "easy" as you put it.

Ronaldo, Kane, Haaland, Lewandowski, Lukaku, Aguero, Suarez, Werner, Muller, Aubameyang, Ibra. Earlier Falcao, Higuain, Costa, David Villa, Mandżukić, Cavani.

Which one of these do you think is incapable of matching the 15 goals in 23 games. From either the exact chances Benzema scored his from (about 1/3 is headers) or creating them from a bigger volume of other opportunities?

A cop out? The point of the bet wasn't to 'give him dues' lmao

Fine though. Normal photo it will be.

You didn’t think he’d get that amount of goals and generally hate him, so you having that gif isn’t really taking the L honorably as it’s still hating on him. Just do it man.

Of course I didn't, genuinely surprised and flabbergasted he's on pace to reach 20 in a season. Shocker.

It was about proving how much of a slog it is for him to get to this number. If you want to take the W on it, feel free. Get the trumpet out lad

Most those players are well into their thirties. Are Madrid prepared to punt Benezma to the curb just to sign a player of similar age that could MAYBE fill his boots for another one or two seasons? Few of those names seem like lateral moves at best (Suarez, Auba), others are not actual strikers (CR, Muller) and guys like Augero (height/injury), Werner(unproven), Ibra(age/health) would not be up for the job.

As a short-term (over 30) fix only Lewa seems like a clear upgrade. Under 30, I still maintain Lukaku, Kane, Haaland and Mbappe are the only superior players.

A lot of those names score goals for teams with no expectations...it's much more difficult to score goals in a RM jersey considering you have the most demanding/ruthless fanbase and a gigantic history. Werner can't even cut it at Chelsea lol.

No obviously not in terms of signing anyone this summer or last summer (though I'd certainly welcome a change). Not the point I was making. I was showing you how common it is to have a player that is more than capable of matching and/or improving upon the raw tally from similar/better volume of chances. Benzema doesn't even get an awful lot because he works a lot less for them than several others. The hardest of workers are a clear upgrade. Height as an attribute doesn't have to matter either. There are relatively short and legendary CBs, one is coaching you.

Oh there we go, good point, even Morata can!

We gonna get an elaboration on this to have you concede Benz numbers are nothing special? ;)
