Yep.

MSN's peak was a lot more dominant/nuclear level compared to BBC. Where BBC had them beat is the perfect balance of physical attributes and technical ability. Coupled with strong intangible abilities (like ability to score out of nowhere in big away games or wonder goals in finals).

All of BBC are dominant in the air.
All of BBC are technically sound (yes, even Bale).
All of BBC have work rate when the games matter.
All of BBC are comfortable with either a possession or a counter attacking game (Messi and Ney got lazy in this regard after 14-15 and basically let the opponent regroup).

They were, but then you also have Ramos, Pepe/Varane and Casemiro in there in addition to BBC and you`ve got one hell of a setpiece threat.
More than half of that side was geared towards dominating in the air.

You also had Morata for a while and James who is an elite crosser of the ball. No wonder cross and Inshallah has been so effective for you.

agree. well said.

i remember when MSN was firing in all cylinders and someone asked Ronaldo if the problem was that MSN were close friends while BBC were not and CR said something like "yeah they hug and kiss but we are professionals". or something like that.

at the time it seemed like a deflection but he was right. the professionalism won out in the end

Totally. As a person, I am more in that direction, even though I am a Barca fan.

Yea, to me both models were very successful overall, but post their peak, Madrid's professionalism certainly won bigger and more titles. The highest standard though, during Spanish domination over Europe, was no question Pep's Barca who had both professionalism, work ethic, and an insane amount of talent. Haven't seen a team scoring 10/10 at all these three factors like that side.

agree. man, pep's barca was so stacked. we had world class players in basically every position. it was kind of hard to see cause messi and xaviesta drew all the attention but damn

Barcelona - Manchester United 2009 is probably the best CL final ever in terms of the talent on the pitch/bench. Also, two legendary managers.

It really is a shame we didn't go 4 in 4 in CLs in those years as I felt we were the best team in the world by a country mile, unquestionably in 09-11, and maybe joint best with RM in 11-12.

Actually, it's called Pep's Barca pretty much on every forum, and it's basically the recognition that Guardiola was the most important person in the club when he was here. After him you have Xavi and Messi being equally influential on the pitch for different reasons. Xavi was the motor of the team, the guy who dictated the identity of the team the most after Guardiola, and Messi was the guy who made magic up front.

Part of the reason why I want Xavi as a manager. He has a brilliant football mind.

Puuuh every team in the world feared Barcelona and yes we were by far the best team. Even 11-12 we were unplayabale in the first half of the season but somehow we became weaker in the second half. 11/12 was Mou's and maybe Ronaldo peak and they played incredible but imo at 100% we were a bit stronger.

I wish we would have rested Messi more in 11/12 therewith we could see his full magic in the important matches in the second half.

It feels bad that we "only" won a league title that season, even if it was with record goals and points(tied), so close to making the CL final, so close to making the CDR final.
Oh well, history already remembers that team regardless, its not all about trophies.

IMO, that was CR7's peak as a RM player (even though he had a better CL run in 16-17 and 13-14 as well).

The RM - Bayern Munich SFs from that year is one of the best games I've ever watched. The Bernabeu leg in particular was an absolute war for 120 mins before the penalty drama.

Also, thinking back, Bayern (as much as I dislike them) have been involved in some great CL clashes over the past 10-12 years.

09-10 United
10-11 Inter
11-12 RM
12-13 Dortmund
15-16 AM
16-17 RM

You could throw in RM 17/18 in the mix as well. I didn't include blowouts on either side.

11/12 was the peak season overall imo, though keep in mind Benzema and Higuain both scored over 20 league goals, underrated trio, though i guess they didnt always play together, so it isnt considered a real trio.

13/14 was also a peak season, though he had some injury struggles towards the end, so he missed a fair few games/out of form.

Since mid to late 00's when they were pretty terrible, Bayern were a big force in CL in 2010's. Many semis, finals, even though they won it only twice.

If we win against valencia, thats 3 points behind real, and 6 behind atletico with them having 1 game in hand. It doesnt look that bad considering that we lost to both madrid sides. We really need to put a winning streak to apply pressure, at least 5 games in a row
