Lionel Messi - v7

after Roma - Liverpool - Bayern , you think i actually would care anymore if Barca loses against Rm ? lol

i don't bet with my heart of any of that shit , those RM odds were too good not to be taken in consideration

In Economics they taught us you are better off betting against your team. If you win, you lose money but you get to see your team win .. its like buying a ticket to watch the game. If you lose, you make money which can comfort your emotions since your team lost the game

Yes, average players can decline that badly. But not players like Messi. He's clearly not performing because he doesn't give a shit. I guarantee you if he goes to a team where they're competing and they actually have a manager who knows what he's doing.... and they have a board that matches his ambition, Messi will put in great performances. He's looking like a guy out there who just doesn't give a shit. That does affect your performances heavily.

The higher the peak, the steeper the decline.

Between 2008 and 2011, Xavi would run the midfield v anyone and everyone. An impossible player in the midfield.

In 2013, he got ran over by Bastian and Javi Martinez.

Huh? You can't just decline like that in 1 year. He was dominating in 2019. Messi doesn't give a shit, so.... yes, that will affect his performances.

It isn't an excuse. He clearly doesn't want to be here.

And for the Premier League exposing him? Liverpool just lost 7-2 to Aston Villa.... then Aston Villa lost 3-0 to Leeds. Man Utd lost 6-1 to Spurs... and Spurs just lost a 3-0 lead to West Ham. Leicester City beat Man City 5-2.... then Leicester lost at home to West Ham 3-0 and then Aston Villa. Want me to go on? In other words, Messi would not struggle in that league.

You can decline like that in 1 year but its been a few years actually.. we all saw the signs. his poor stamina and workrate has been talked about for years but his magic managed to cover for it.. now, theres little to no magic left and outside of that he offers nothing to the team: no positional discipline, slows the game down, poor stamina and no workrate. as i said, before it was acceptable because, well, hes Messi but you can't give that performance a pass anymore

as for the PL, imho he'd be massively exposed. prime Messi? he'd tear that league a new arsehole but 33 year old Messi would be left in the dust. you don't get anywhere near as much time on the ball as in La Liga, CBs and midfielders are also alot more physical. those crazy scorelines show just how competitive the EPL is

City dodged a massive bullet in not signing him as no doubt Pep would of had to put KdB in a lesser role and restructured the team to cover Messi's movement/workrate.

Clubs only wanted him for free.

No one is submitting a bid of 200m plus a 3 year contract for a 33 year old on 1.2m a year.

Plus his agent and signing on fee.

Stop living in fantasy.

They didn't have to submit 200m. And I doubt he would demand 1m a week. And our stupid board gave him that 1m a week.... City wouldn't be that stupid. Bartomeu said he can't leave for anything less than 700m, so no team had a chance of signing him in any case. If you honestly believe no team would take a gamble on Messi, you're living in denial. Messi in a team like City would take them to the next level. They're missing someone like Messi.

Barto inevitably helped him big time by not letting him leave.

City is declined big time and if both Pep and Messi got hammered in the PL at the same time, it'd undermine the heights they achieved together at Barca.

Also, the CR7 fanboys would lose their shit at seeing a 33 year old Messi struggle in PL. I have 0 doubts he would destroy that league in his prime as he ate Ferguson's United for breakfast (even in 07-08).

How the hell would he be exposed in the Premier League when teams like Leicester are beating teams like City 5-2. Teams like Aston Villa are beating teams like Liverpool 7-2. And so on.

I swear, people overrate the Premier League so much. They have a lot of average teams and defenses in that league. You actually get more space in the Premier league.

Messi has declined, even the most die hard fans have to accept that. I don't think his form is just because he wanted to leave.Time catches up with everyone. He had over 10 years at the top which is exceptional.

Yes motivation can do wonders. He is declining, sure but wouldn't be this bad if it weren't for the chaos at the beginning of the season.

guys as usual you don't understand shit about matches and players.
What is happening has very little to do with the decline of Messi (physiological, but wait the whole season to judge)

Ok. So let's act as a club according to this reality. Sub him more, rotate him, cut his salary less than half. And if he doesn't accept, move him on. Nothing will change what he did for this club if you reassess the position of the club regarding Messi to match the reality of 2020.

How is this anything else than reasonable?

It's reasonable. Even though he's declined he still offers more than griezmann, dembele and trincao. we'll see what happens. If the club proposes this and he accepts, he'll sign an extension. Otherwise he'll leave in the summer.

He can't score vs laliga farmers.

He won't do well on a physical league no offence
