Lionel Messi - v7

How many times this season Cou played as a CAM, without Messi on a field and with CF Brait?
I won't even ask for pacey wingers.

He is forced to play as a hybrid LW, in a team where 90% of teammates are making unconscious passes to Messi all the time, where Messi drops deep, slows down the game and is killing attacking options and variety.
And on top of all, when Messi gets the ball, he will ruin it with trying too hard dribbles, soft shots or predictable passes.

You guys are still offering chances to *a decade of dominance Dembele* after 4 seasons of nothing.
Yet Cou is dead after never getting 10 matches in a row as a CAM, without Messi on a field and with a proper CF.

Basically, whenever Messi plays as a CAM or a false 9, Cou and the team is dead.

Cou offered good seasons without Messi at Liverpool and Brasil.

No offense to Messi, but I won't write off or judge Griezz and Cou until Messi is gone.
They will finally have more options and free reigns of a team.

Plus, they are the only two guys who are not obsessed with Messi and who are not passing the ball to him all the time.

Further, Messi tries 10 shots per match.
In the last two matches, Messi tried 22 shots.
Scored 1 goal.
Cou tried 4 shots.

There is no way that Cou and Griezz would have worse numbers than Messi if they were allowed to take all free kicks, pens and 5-6 regular shots per match.

I mean, imagine if Cou/Griezz had:
7-8 pens this season
50-60 free kicks attempts
50 shots from an open play

Don't you agree that both of them would have let's say:
6/8 goals from pens
2-3/50 goals from free kicks
5-10/50 goals from an open play (from 50 shots from inside or around the box)

That would be roughly 13-19 goals for each of them.

Just try to give Messi's role to any other player, or distribute 100 of his failed shots this season to Braith, Cou, Griezz.

For example, without pens:
This season at Barca:
Cou: 27 shots, 3 goals
Griezz: 35 shots, 5 goals
Braith: 13 shots, 4 goals
Messi: 84 shots, 3 goals

Now, give 50-60 shots from an open play to Griezz/Cou, all free kicks and 5 pens.
You easily get to 10-13 goals for Cou and 15-20 goals for Griezmann, WITHOUT Messi on a field.

And on top of it, I used numbers of shots with Messi on a field, and since Messi is slowing down the build up, it is possible that our team would create even more chances without Messi on a field since we would play faster and have more attacking options.
That means that Cou and Griezz would have even more shooting attempts than in these stats based on Messi's shooting stats.
And that means even more goals.

All in all, I won't give up from Cou and Griezz until Messi is gone or benched.

** Btw, remember even during Valverde, when Cou came in January, that he played awesome in first matches when Iniesta was rotated/rested/injured.
Cou without Iniesta played awesome.
When Iniesta returned, a trio Cou-Iniesta-Messi was much worse and slower.
Cou plays better when there are less CAMs clogging his area of movement.

I must admit i have not read your post but i find it amazing that you write that much in a post when nobody cares what you think.
Write a book dude.

Yes, Coutinho's and Griezmann's performances are Hindered because of Messi. But here is a wild idea.
Messi' s performances are Hindered buy Coutinho, griezmann and the absolutely mid table team we have at the moment.

Griezmann in his best season scored like 20 goals, which all of them were penalty or tap ins. And he was main man in Atletico.
Coutinho is one trick pony. If he was our main player , if people would cover him like they would cover Messi he would not touch the ball whole season.

You have take Messi's worst season ever to compare with two players that nobody in the world want to buy, and these two should never be bought to play here.

"Coutinho needs to play at AM" is hilarious religious doctrine at this point. Look at his 16/17 heat maps for Liverpool (we wanted him in the summer), look at his heatmaps for Barcelona in 17/18 and 18/19. Even better, just look at his highlights.

The roles in both clubs are almost the same, in Barcelona we just require more individualism from him which he clearly lacks.

BS. Only something like 5 of his 100+ goals for AM were penaldos. Sure, he had some tap ins like most strikers but he has deserved most of his goals.

Also, how many goals do you think Messi would score for ultradefensive AM having to work his ass off for 90 minutes every game for Cholo? He'd probably already retire 5 years ago.

Griezz played at Atletico who are less possession based and less dominant.

At Barca, attackers will usually get more shooting attempts.

Or, the opposite: if Messi played his whole career at AM under Simeone, do you think that he would get as many shooting attempts as at Barca?

** I see that Messi983 already explained the same.

Griezz had these total numbers at Atletico per season:
32, 29, 26, 25, 21

20-25 goals at Barca without Messi doesn't sound that crazy.

Seeing how the 17/18 EV's side is somewhat similar to how ATM plays, I would say he still score a lot.
