Lionel Messi - v7

We'll see. We might not be better without Messi but we will see more united team.

We'd be better. The increased speed, pressing, work rate, would bring more than what current Messi can provide with his 34-year-old body. Of course, it doesn't mean we'd challenge for CL or anything , but we'd be more easy on the eye and more of a team.

We're a better unit without him but we have less quality without him. Depends on the circumstances of the match as to whether he's worth starting or not. I'd start him on the bench most away games because a team at home will usually put more effort in the first half of a match which could hurt us. Let Trincao get some minutes. Then second half even at half time introduce Messi when the opponent is tiring more and more. Koeman is just another shmuck without an attacking idea so this probs will never happen.

Last 5 matches with Messi as a starter:
1. Atletico 0:1
2. Osasuna 4:0
3. Cadiz 1:2
4. Juve 0:3
5. Levante 1:0

We struggled in 4 out of 5 matches.

Last 8 matches in La liga with Messi as a starter:
1. Sevilla 1:1
2. Getafe 0:1
3. Real 1:3
4. Alaves 1:1
5. Atletico 0:1
6. Osasuna 4:0
7. Cadiz 1:2
8. Levante 1:0

We struggled in 7 out of 8 matches.

Barca without Messi:
Betis 5:2
Dinamo Kiev 4:0
Ferencvaros 3:0

Coincidence?

Ferencvaros and Kiev dude not Real or Bayern

With Messi's wages likely off the books after this season, the new board needs to make 1-2 quality signings to reinforce the squad for next year.

This current team sans Messi would be even worse than they currently are now. Picking up the tempo and running around like headless chickens isn't going to magically improve this team's play. Quality signings will.

I like it that he casually left out the 3 matches in the CL that Leo played in and got us qualified.

So he's left with two dead rubber CL games and a half that ended 1-1 against naive Betis.

We definitely lost/drawed with him on the field this season, but so did the other players that started those matches.

Three matches?

You include Ferencvaros and Kiev at home as counting and Messi getting Barca qualified in those games? Games they played worse in than the away ties.

Yet play them away in games which did count as Barca wanted top spot and they are just 'dead rubbers'.

Mental gymnastics at its finest and worse than the stuff from BBZ the other way.

Nah imbecile, I was referring to the fact those wins were achieved with him being starter. Not that he alone got us qualified. Played worse is subjective and can have many facets. Like we missing chances that could turn a game more easily in our favour. Just as that deflected shot or Morata's goals not being called off could have turned the Juve away game.

Yes, those were dead rubber games, against some of the worst sides in the competition. Top spot was decided by the Juve games.

Mental gymnastics for seeing it as it is.

So beating Kiev and Ferncvaros is an 'achievement' when Messi is starter but beating them and playing better as a team away is just a 'dead rubber' agaiinst utter dross. Got it!

Gets better.

Top spot was decided in Juve game due to Barca winning the games before it... all of them... home and away.

Yes mental gymnastics at its finest as I said.
