Lionel Messi - v7

Messi is 33, not 63.

And at 33 he should still have strong enough of a shot. Until 40 at least.

There's no general rule book that accurately pin-points when people should experience certain parts of physical decline. Regardless, all I did was state that technical ability deteriorates with age too.

How was Ronaldinhos decline? Visible very suddenly or it was slow progress? Where do you notice it first?

Suarez it was ball control, quickness/speed/clumsiness.

Messi I have noticed his passes are not as perfectly weighted as they used to. His passes seem "lazy" to my eye and his kicks, the same. His dribbles are not as effective either.

"When your heart overflows with love, it is difficult to change your path. Like you, I know what it's like to love wearing the same shirt every day. Like you, I know that there is nothing better than the place we feel at home. Congratulations on your historic record, Messi. But above all, congratulations on your beautiful career at Barcelona. Stories like ours, of loving the same club for so long, unfortunately will be increasingly rare in football. I admire you very much."

Sheesh!

:wow:

Ronaldinho's "decline" was mostly self-inflicted. It wasn't due to age, just his unwillingness to stay fit and function as a top athlete should. He was overweight (to his standards) in 2006/2007, and you could see a stark contrast in his acceleration midway through 2006/2007 if you compared it to his 2005/2006 form. His weight issues worsened as he got older, and by the time he left the club for Milan he was visibly fat.

Think he wold be okay in this match if not being plaid together with Coutinho and Griez. Pedri can stay as he's versatile. Only one of these three should play at a single one time and despite all the decline, i'd still prefer Messi. Just Get rid of at least two of them, i don't care who anymore.

Lionel Messi has given an exclusive interview with laSextaTV. The interview will be released this month and Messi has revealed something that will shock the world. The speculation is that he will announce his retirement from football at the end of the season after the copa america.

Messi seemed quite motivated during the WCQ with Argentina, so seems very hard to believe he isn't going to play that.

He for sure won't retire until summer 2023. If he wanted to retire in 2021 he wouldn't have pushed to leave last summer. That being said I haven't seen ayone speculating about his retirement announcement or anything about shocking the world. Source?

He could probably announce that this is his last season with Barca. That would be more logical decision than retiring at 34.

Argentina will have a better squad in 2022 than it had in 2018

Messi will be 35,5 years old though. He already looks deep in decline the past year,I can't see how he can contribute to a WC-winning squad.

He had a bad WC in 2018 when he was just 31 and still played quite well for Barcelona.
