Messi best not sulk and complain if we're doing shit next season. He's decided to stay. He can't blame anyone but himself.

I see this as good news as long as his wages are cut substantially. We need his marketing and recruiting pull for the next few years as the club recovers financially. His impact on the pitch matters less to me as he declines and the team around him is utter shite anyways.

A Haaland or similar level attacking superstar in the summer of 2022 is a must though to properly transition out of the Messi era.

Very good points actually. We might need Messi for other purposes but playing too.

Is Messi still going to get his 33m loyalty fee? Is he going to get a decent signing-on fee if signs a new contract? A reduction in wages doesn't mean crap if he's getting those other things.

As soon as Messi got Aguero in, it was pretty much confirming he was staying. And yes, I believe that it's down to Messi of why Aguero is coming. I don't want to hear Messi complaining or even seeing him sulk on the pitch if we're doing shit. He's talking about needing a competitive team, but our team is years away from being competitive. Players like Depay, Garcia and Aguero will not make us any stronger. Then.... we still have that shit defense with no money to fix it.

We can't properly rebuild whilst Messi is here.

I believe he should have left this season like he wanted and in All honesty with the form he achieved he would have done great in any club. For Barca the party has been over for a couple of years now and he is pretty old to take another step, perhaps thats a good point in favor of him staying.
All in all I will be Happy either way.
If he stays we might get to see a few more glimpses of brilliance. If he goes we might have to jump start faster the rebuild because the fallout will be massive without some world class signings.

Yeah mate, Messi told Laporta to not bring Haaland and instead get some freebies. He wants to play with bums, he always strived for that.

Word. People take it personal as if we are saying Messi is a bad player.. he is amazing and any team literally will be lucky to have him from a football ability point of view .. however he is like an employee that does not fit the new company culture as per the new strategy, or someone who is a symbolic representation to your old strategy and hinders your growth .. sometimes couples separate because it is for the best even though both can be great people

Edit: one way he can actually be a leader is if he drives the change and have all the oldies follow his steps .. like asking for wage reductions and asking to have youngsters play instead of him sometimes so that they can grow and the team can transition and actually reducing his role and respecting the manager if the instructions are like that

That is pretty accurate. He doesn't fit our current culture of shambolic football and seguenda level managers and players.

Actually thinking about it there is a formation that can work with Messi and Aguero being free roaming CM/CAM and they can bitch around as they like and actually be very effective

5-2-2-1
3 center backs
2 RWB/LWB
2 CDM
Messi + Aguero
1 true ST
