Lionel Messi - v7

You can bet EVERYTHING you have that the same suspects complaining about Messi staying would be the first to label him a coward and an opportunist and a traitor for leaving to PSG or City.

When that's the case, it's not a legitimate complaint. It's simply agenda.

If Messi were to leave, I would wish him well. He's done everything for this club and he deserves a better team around him.

That's when I had no complaints about him leaving last season. He earned it, and it probably would have been better for everyone if he did leave. At least then we could start our rebuild properly.

On the other side we have 2-3 people here who want Messi's exit because Barca is no longer strong enough. Same guys had complained that Ronaldo was leaving a sinking ship when he left Manu and Real. :crbust:

No problem if he leaves. Some fans would be in their right to consider him a lesser Barca legend than someone like Xavi or Iniesta though. The biggest club legends don't play for rivals usually. But if he thinks winning some titles at the end of his career is the most important, fair play, well within his right and makes total sense. Just not in a romantic way.

Cheers. There's only really 3 people my post was directed at (and definitely not you). I see both pros and cons to Messi staying or leaving...but the more pressing concern for me is the rest of the team and especially the manager. A good to great manager can do a lot more than the presence or absence of a 34 year old in the modern game.

Why would you bring up CR7 when no one has mentioned him?

Those fans are spoiled.

Cruyff left to play for Feyenoord yet he's eternal and immortal for Ajax fans and have their stadium named after him.

Sources close to Leo Messi have denied that Leo has already made a firm decision about his continuity or not at FC Barcelona and they assure that this depends on the sports project that Joan Laporta presents to him and the offer that he makes. [md]

Still think he is more likely to stay than leave, but I don't think his renewal is imminent just yet. That journalist might have jumped the gun like he did with Neymar's potential return and Xavi joining.

Iniesta and Xavi didn't play for our ,,rivals" because Qatar and Japan were their best options financial wise , or do you actual think they went to those places for the cultures and whatever.

If somehow any club from any top league ( excepting RM and Atletico ) would have offered a ridiculous ammount of money that Messi could possibly get , they would have left with the first place available , let's be serious here.

Xavi, definitely. He's been following the money in Qatar and serghei for some reason never deducts any marks for that...while docking Messi when he hasn't even left us yet lol.

Iniesta is a more unique case. I don't know what he would do.

Whether he is staying or going, Laporta should do well and not give him more money than it's reasonable in these times. We should see what's the biggest salary in football right now, and pay him just a bit more than that. Nothing outrageous.

Imo he should stay if he really loves barca. He knows that the club needs him and lets be honest its not like going to PSG is a guarantee for CL, especially if Mbappe leaves they wont win CL. Barca may be trash but even we had dominated them in paris and with a striker we would have won the tie.
