He would be a complete tool to stay. Shouldve left in 2017/18. His career management and advise he has been getting is trash.

Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar. All. Bad decisions.

Not that Barca was that bad 2017-2018. We just didn't change enough the team and got too comfortable.

Messi mustve been thinking non stop at how barca's management, now with laporta, tried really hard to make him stay. Now they brought him one of his best friends.

Im not against the idea of kun at barca though. I think at least financially, this is a great idea. Free transfer and relatively low salary of a player with his calibre. And kun is still better alternative to me than griezzy or braithwaite. He's more critical and his goal ratio is still good this year despite his goal lack due to injury. You could argue that griezzy has better work rate and is a bit better in providing assist bit goals are what matters most when you're a striker.

Anyway, with kun's arrival messi mustve been pretty hard deciding to leave barca. He know part of barca getting kun is to make him stay and now that kun is joining him in participating in wc qualifier and copa america, he cant avoid at getting a word or two to stay by his best friend, cant he? So i think finly messi will decide to stay, as what people been thinking. Think what would Laporta do to kun if he's unable to make messi stay and what messi would feel regarding that.

I am hoping the rumor of us paying 240m for the next four years (it is really just two years, since he is supposed to go to the MLS and only act as an ambassador for the club) is not true. 240m for two years is unjustifiably too much. You don’t pay much for a club ambassador anyways.

If he is really going to Inter Miami after two years, then I am super excited. Supposedly Aguero will join him too. I will fly out there and watch games. Very good for the MLS

Inter Miami, aka almost FC Barcelona Miami. Wonder if Laporta has his eyes set on franchising the FC Barcelona name to Miami and having a partner agreement with them. Especially as there is an on-going legal case for being called Inter with Inter Milan.

Certainly would make sense if Messi moves there in a few years and "continues the Barcelona name" with our marketing agreement :)

You heard it here first. :coffee:

For me personally, I'd rather he just retired at Barca and just live in Miami, rather than playing in the MLS.

Always wanted him to go out as a one club man like Puyol.

If Inter Miami (presumably) will be paying wages as they should, I don't see why we should be paying Messi's wages beyond 22/23, other than normal fees and wages associated with being a club ambassador.

It is because in theory he is taking less now for the longer contract to get paid over time.

Otherwise he would reject contract.

Doesn't make any sense unless we are gaining a stake of the Inter Miami project and renaming to Barcelona Miami as Laporta had previously intended in 2009.

Otherwise to be paying Messi contract for years after his departure for a few years while he is in his 30s is an accumulation of bad debt.
