- Argentina played a 4/4/1/1 formation: wwith Messi behind Lautaro.
- In possession phase, Messi played mostly as a right winger (!yes), and DiMaria was more central, like a 10 role (but he isn't great at that). DiMaria is mostly a "crosser" by default.
As for Messi, i think putting him on the wing had two purposes: first, providing more ball-control at the right side (because they played with no right fullback) + because putting Leo at the wing and DiMaria centrally can surprise the opponent, making Argentina less predictable (just on paper).
One of the problems there is the lack of creativity at the left side. Ocampos was so poor and didn't serve at anything. When Correa came to replace him, he offered a better solution for attack.
Also Argentina doesn't seem good enough at playing from the back. They are not technical enough, and also these players lack chemistry (which can be improved with more games).
The good thing there was the defender Christian Romero which seems to be (finally) a solid defender in Argentina (something that never happened since Mascherano).
Probably they won't be very fluid at possession-game because they lack many things. But i can see if Argentina improves at counter-attacking they might be able to win the Copa. If you want to beat Brazil you need an effective counter-attack play. And in this area, i think Lautaro and Correa can be the perfect partners for Messi: they are natural runners.
