It does seem a little weird that Messi has stayed completely silent throughout all of this. I mean, he was more than happy to come out blasting the club last year in articles and whatnot. All the reports came out saying that he was focusing on Barcelona's season and that he won't make a decision till after it. 3 weeks went by and he still didn't make his decision and went straight to the Copa America. I get that nothing is a certainty, but if it's as clear-cut as Laporta claims it is in regarding him staying and it's only down to the little details, surely Messi would have announced after Barcelona's season ended or a little after it? According to all these reliable sources and Laporta, he agreed to stay back at the end of May.
Something stinks about all of this. I mean, it's apparently down to the little details of why it isn't signed, but that's been the case for a while now. Surely something like the little details wouldn't take weeks and weeks to finish? I suspect they're having major trouble with La Liga and the FFP. I hope we don't sacrifice our depth (releasing/loaning/selling many players) for Messi's salary.
