Lionel Messi - v7

It does seem a little weird that Messi has stayed completely silent throughout all of this. I mean, he was more than happy to come out blasting the club last year in articles and whatnot. All the reports came out saying that he was focusing on Barcelona's season and that he won't make a decision till after it. 3 weeks went by and he still didn't make his decision and went straight to the Copa America. I get that nothing is a certainty, but if it's as clear-cut as Laporta claims it is in regarding him staying and it's only down to the little details, surely Messi would have announced after Barcelona's season ended or a little after it? According to all these reliable sources and Laporta, he agreed to stay back at the end of May.

Something stinks about all of this. I mean, it's apparently down to the little details of why it isn't signed, but that's been the case for a while now. Surely something like the little details wouldn't take weeks and weeks to finish? I suspect they're having major trouble with La Liga and the FFP. I hope we don't sacrifice our depth (releasing/loaning/selling many players) for Messi's salary.

No offence but there's 0 chance we aren't going through loophole after loophole to give Messi a ridiculous contract.

Look at the contract Barto gave him with a crazy loyalty bonus and a clause to leave for free.

Who the fuck knows what Messi's demands are and I don't buy for a second he's taking a pay cut hence the contract being spread out over 5 years

That shit shouldn't be allowed and I have the feeling Tebas will shoot it down. Otherwise FFP is even more dead than it already is.

Was waiting for the M.O.B to arrive (Messi Over Barca)

Football is moving on because Ronaldo and Messi are at the ends of their careers. I never said the next crop of players would be near those 2, they won't and we are likely never to see the likes of Messi's talent + longevity ever again.

This isn't about 'change for the sake of it' at all. Barca are in a financial ruin; cut the players wages, sure but don't then siphon that money to give a wantaway Messi a new contract. but but but Messi would play for free, but Messi is loyal and loves only Barca. No, Messi has ran out of options - I don't see City or PSG lining up any contracts for him anymore, Barca are his only option.

Will Barca be a better team without Messi? of course not, we will suffer as Madrid have suffered without Ronaldo BUT it's a break that has to be done sooner rather than later. We aren't talking about any old player here on modest wages, we are talking about an old player on GOAT tier wages, he earns more now than he did during his peak, THAT is ridiculous. You are talking about us not being able to afford a player to replace him, we can't even afford to renew Messi himself  even if we cut player wages we still can't afford him and that is down to 1 thing: GREED

Not at all Messi over Barca. Those who want Messi out of Barca are like that, i want him here, so we can still have the best player in the world and to compete, at least domestically. Of course, it would be advisable that he would take a cut, but i think Messi is not Barca's biggest problem.Financially saying. Overrated bums like Griezmann, Dembele, Coutinho, Roberto, who were bought with a lot of money and they earn salaries they don't deserve. Messi generates a lot of income for Barca too, without counting his enormous influence on the pitch. What the other ones i said about are doing for Barca? Just leeches. I know many guys here have an agenda against Messi, and tbh the discussion about how much he earns can extrapolate to a wider discussion that footballers are paid much much more than they deserve, but let's see the context we are speaking.

A lot of baseless claims and assertions coming from you about Messi and his stance towards the club while at the same time you defend a certain Portuguese player with such passion in another thread. You remind me of someone who recently went on vacation again.

Don't say that BarcaOG took the L again?:))
