If I was him,I would rather leave this year,or I would force the board to call for early elections.

He maybe has 1-2 good years left,he can't waste another one with the corrupt board.

I'm pretty sure the clause that lets him leave for free is, if it's to a club in a non top 5 league in Europe. Xavi and iniesta had the same clause. It's why they moved to Qatar and Japan

City would not be taking a 34 year old Messi on 80m a season.

Those top teams wanting to win things will not pay big money and put aside the values of hard, work pressing and pace and balance to their teams.

City's current mode of play is directly tied to Guardiola, who I don't believe remains there beyond this season.

Messi has repeatedly said that if he ever leaves Barca,it will be for Newells.Doubt Newells would offer any money though

Exactly, moving at age 13 hurt him a lot. He wont put his children trough that. Its retiring at Barca or Newells for Messi. But if you have to bet on it in Europe it wpuld be a city he likes not for away so money would be on Psg or Inter but its a long shot.

A new president convincing him of loyalty and a sporting project nect year is more likely.just retiring next year and fade into oblivian is unlikely for someone that has played all his life. It would be depressing.

My bet:

He's using his power to get Barto & Cia out and force the elections. Whoever he backs it's going to be the winner.

He would be wanted by clubs that are trying to build their brand, easy way to gain huge fan base .. could work with the Saudi clubs like New Castle though as others mentioned Messi is unlikely to go to such destinations. He would probably retire.

Guardiola will definitely be there next season and likely more after that.

When he goes they will look for the next nearest thing and cant see them being after Messi even on a free.

Man City will sign him and it may not be Pep's decision or Txixi's decision or Soriano's decision, but it will be Sheikh Mansour's decision.

That's if Messi actually leaves which I think is still unlikely.

Who gets to choose if we get an early election? And what benefit do they get from not activating this right? Clearly there has been scandals from the board starting with Paulinho

My bet is he is stung by being called out on the amigos hold on the squad and is pulling a petulant power play.

Nothing other than that has happened in last week or so to have an impact.

They wouldnt and certainly not on anything near 80m a season.

Cant see it at all.

Go against Pep and he would leave.

Pep at City is infintely more important than a 34 yr old Messi.

:lol: It's brilliant how you pass that off as fact just for the sake of an argument when Pep's history shows that he's not a long term guy. Just look at Bayern. Did everything to keep him. I know which of the two I'd bet on given his history.

Lets see who is right. I think he will be there next season at least.

Pep sees City as his legacy more so even than Barca.

The thing is those amigos are probably more professional than him. Griezman said that Suarez texted him when he joined while Messi didn?t.. Suarez has invited him more than once to his house ... when the assistant was talking to Messi few days ago and Messi cursed and ignored his existence, Suarez was the one telling Messi to come and talk
