Lionel Messi - v7

Barçapocalypse NOW!
Finally he has spoke to the media, I was worried that he is delusional, I'm glad he's aware the team is bucnh of washed gatekeepers

He IS delusional... He says the team gets overrun by other teams with more intensity and hunger but he is the one of the guilty-est when in comes to just walking around the pitch and showing absolutely no desire to win... He has also allowed and even encouraged those washed gatekeepers to remain an integral part of the team... He has talked about slef-criticism after losing to Juve, Roma and Liverpool for three seasons straight, so it is very hard to take his words seriously today...

I don't mean to sound like I hate him, because I don't, I want him to stay here forever, but he has to accept that he is part of the problem and can't play every single game anymore and adjust his game accordingly...

So much blame on the GOAT. He has largely played this way for many years and it has worked when the team around him was decent enough.

It isn't his fault that the board is incompetent and all their major signings have flopped.

There is no evidence that he has prevented the board from replacing the likes of Suarez, Busquets, Alba, Rakitic or Pique.

Hopefully he rests against Alaves in the last match. I think some of the haters in here will be surprised how much better he'll be in the UCL when he's rested and more motivated.

Of course he deserves some blame, but most people are going over the top. I guess it's what comes with being a player of Messi's status, that when the team wins, he will get most of the plaudits and when the team loses, he will get most of the criticism. All great players have gone through it. He isn't the first and he won't be the last

Not true.
He did not play like that under Pep. I guess he was not bigger than the club back then

What is more, until 5-6 years ago he was not attempting to impose his wishes on how the team plays, and on who should be signed.

Have a midfield that can actually bring the ball across the pitch and watch Messi shine.

That myth!
He will drop deep close to the halfway line even with plenty of midfielders who can find him close to the box, as he has been doing the last 4 years for Barca and NT.

Messi fails to realize that the board have bent over backwards to please him. One of the reasons they bought expensive players was to get the best out of his last years. The plan has backfired spectacularly.
Also it doesn't help when your captain is a sulking, static figure. He should look at his counterpart at Real Madrid.
Ramos is a scumbag but a winner and one who sets an example.

Expensive doesnt equate to quality or the right profile though. They even sold Arthur. its more like they want a short term solution rather than please Messi if anything.

Messi doesn't need to run as much as the rest of the team IF the rest of the team can over compensate for it. It is simple mathematics.

9 outfield players compensating for 1, is veeeeeery different to 7 outfield players compensating for 3 (Messi, Suarez, Busquets).

Compromised frontline, compromised midfield and then to top it off, two fullbacks out of position and a CB duo with the pace of Donald Trump's toupee.
