Can't believe what I'm reading. The one constant in our best period ever as a club and these ungrateful sons of bitches have the gall to call him out. He is past his best days, that's true but everything bad happening at the club is the fault of this board. How can any sane person even think that players are at fault for this disaster? They are shit but the contracts and the clout that they have is nothing but the failure of Barto and his cronies, the failure to administrate, develop and execute a good sporting plan. Who the fuck made this squad over the years? Was Messi screaming for Arda Turan, aleix vidal or Gomes? Was Messi screaming for 120 man Dembele, 160m Coutinho or 120m and 45m worth of wages for Griezmann? Was Messi giving 4, 5 years contracts to zombies? Obviously not, but these are the things that made Messi and his "amigos" have more power than they should. The utter incompetence and failure of the board in doing anything worth a damn for years and years on end. They are supposed to kick a ball around, they are mostly uneducated, the people who should do the thinking at this club on the other hand kept on shitting the bed.

Oh, but then people will say that Messi made Barto keep and cuddle all his amigos. Maybe, but that's because Bartomeu is a fraud, the whole board is a fraud and has been this way since Rosell took over. They have no direction whatsoever, they are incompetent, they are arogant and stupid(see the level of negotiations with different clubs over the years), the fact that Messi and these has beens continued to win silverware, despite the board doing everything in their power to make that impossible, gave them the power to be selfish and control things in the boardroom. It doesn't look good on them for sure, but ultimately 100% of the blame is on Bartomeu and the other idiots. The players, while very, very bad, still kept winning LA Ligas and CdR.

Messi is not flawless, no football player is without blame in their career for some thing or another, but he has given more to this club than everyone else, aside from Cruyff maybe, to see the level of salt and stupidity in some cases, is mindboggling.

Edit: The saddest part is that it's all because they don't have bragging rights against their half witted mates. Fuck everything else that this guy brought to the club, we gonna shit on him because I'm offended by memes.

best football club of the past decade. a decade heavily influenced by messi. the madrid CL triple sent the bandwagon fans into overdrive with their expectations regarding CL performances(a competition with 7 games basically). people forget(or were to young to even remember) the period when madrid was shit in europe or the gaspart years for barcelona.

not saying that we couldn't have done better trophy wise or that we couldn't have avoided such heavy defeats in CL quarters/semis. but blaming such ludicrous stuff on the best player ever is idiotic.

I take guys like Mbappe/Mane/Gnabry over Messi anyday of the week now. They dont need to be tactically compensated and just need a couple of technically decent player who can play a ball in behind. Much easier to set up a team with them than Messi.

i like that you say messi has to compensated defensively while disregarding the fact he compensates for 2 players on creation/attack. and also adapted his game to be more of a playmaker than a striker. you're basically comparing him with arda turan.

There's a big difference between having a whole team built entirely around you with quality and hard work in order for you and the team to succeed and having to carry a hopelessly old and slow team when you're 33 with poor stamina. The same team Messi nearly carried to a treble last year with insane stats that won him a ballon d'or.

In the right team Messi could still be a cheat code but he can't carry a dysfunctional side anymore (whether he's part of that dysfunction or not)/

Doesn't have the pace, stamina or positional disciple to play as a winger, doesn't have the stamina or workrate to play as a modern 10.

Only position I can see him playing is as a false 9 but he needs elite level inside forwards for this to work.

I seriously think you should watch once more. He was aggressive and looking for goal in the 1st half and did his part for the 2nd barca goal. Hell on another day when he has that scoring boot, he should've scored at least one (the one after the solo run). Also suarez chip could made it 3-1 barca.

But yeah, after that canadian youngster run for the 5-2 score, he gave up. So did most of the team. He isn't captain material, that's common knowledge. His ability is decreasing, it's natural. He doesn't have a good stamina, it's been like that the whole time, only current him is worst than before. But he doesn't try, i call that bs. At least until 5-2.
