This is it. He also let things drift under Shitverde. That is when the rot really set in. As captain and with his "ambition" to win CL he would know and demand the intensity required to win.
Yes, the board are to blame but in the end the players have to perform on the pitch. His buddies are shit on the pitch and you can't just put the blame on the board and their signings.
Sulking and protecting his buddies is not going to win him Cl. Hell, there's no guarantee he'll win CL with Bayern, City, PSG, Inter etc.

From Messi's point of view, he knows and even said himself Barca can't win the CL. he would also know a full rebuild is impossible to fall in line with his final years as we don't have the finances, thus hes happy to collect his money, win another la liga or two with his buddies and chill
its funny you say 'all those lazy players surrounding him' when i noticed only 1 player walking around lazy, uninterested vs Bayern.. you guessed it, it was Messi. Suarez is finished fitness wise and although hopeless he still tries in the big games
imo its too late, hes 33 years old. best for both parties if he leaves and reinvents himself in a fresh environment. Barca need to move on from this era

Can't believe what I'm reading. The one constant in our best period ever as a club and these ungrateful sons of bitches have the gall to call him out. Fuck out of here, probably guys that haven't bought a damn Barca shirt in their lives hvae the nerve to criticize the player that gave us almost everything since he appeared on stage in 2003.
He is past his best days, that's true but everything bad happening at the club is the fault of this board. How can any sane person even think that players are at fault for this disaster? They are shit but the contracts and the clout that they have is nothing but the failure of Barto and his cronies, the failure to administrate, develop and execute a good sporting plan. Who the fuck made this squad over the years? Was Messi screaming for Arda Turan, aleix vidal or Gomes? Was Messi screaming for 120 man Dembele, 160m Coutinho or 120m and 45m worth of wages for Griezmann? Was Messi giving 4, 5 years contracts to zombies? Obviously not, but these are the things that made Messi and his "amigos" have more power than they should. The utter incompetence and failure of the board in doing anything worth a damn for years and years on end. They are supposed to kick a ball around, they are mostly uneducated, the people who should do the thinking at this club on the other hand kept on shitting the bed.
Oh, but then people will say that Messi made Barto keep and cuddle all his amigos. Maybe, but that's because Bartomeu is a fraud, the whole board is a fraud and has been this way since Rosell took over. They have no direction whatsoever, they are incompetent, they are arogant and stupid(see the level of negotiations with different clubs over the years), the fact that Messi and these has beens continued to win silverware, despite the board doing everything in their power to make that impossible, gave them the power to be selfish and control things in the boardroom. It doesn't look good on them for sure, but ultimately 100% of the blame is on Bartomeu and the other idiots. The players, while very, very bad, still kept winning LA Ligas and CdR.
Messi is not flawless, no football player is without blame in their career for some thing or another, but he has given more to this club than everyone else, aside from Cruyff maybe, to see the level of salt and stupidity in some cases, is mindboggling.
Edit: The saddest part is that it's all because they don't have bragging rights against their half witted mates. Fuck everything else that this guy brought to the club, we gonna shit on him because I'm offended by memes.

Messi defended Valverde and his tactics while we crashed out of CL many years in a row.. he is probably still defending amigos. He defended Valverde too.
I wouldn't be surprised if he defended his amigos and blame the board for this failure.

First you're saying Messi defended Valverde as if that means Valverde was bad and then you say that the coaches did what they could, so which is it?
Messi did take the blame after anfield, said it was on the players. Losing 8-2 to bayern was awful tactics from Setien, not being brave and fielding an even worse version of the anfield team.
You hate Valverde so much but love Setien at the same time. You can't decide who's to blame now as long as it's not Setien. When Messi take the blame against Liverpool, you people said it's just to protect Valverde but now you want to Blame him because of the managers fault 😆
