Lionel Messi - v7

For the game where barca bitch smacked Madrid 0 4 without messi. Neymar scored 11.3 km. For a player who sprints a lot that's the equivalent of running like a mad dog. Bald neymar was an nuclear player. Enrique is another manager without any ideas or football mind he simply brought high level fitness and discipline to the team and that was enough.
How about in the game that Valverde won without Messi against RM how much Suarez run, I'm curious

Messi will never have legendary folklore better than Pele (3 world cups), heck, not even maradona. hence history will never consider him the GOAT unless he wins the WC

yes, he might be the better player, but he won't be remembered as the GOAT
Do you actually believe people will talk about Pele and Maradona after their fanbase are dead. People will be talking how great Messi and Cristiano rivalry was and how long they're on the top of football breaking records winning consecutive UCL, winning Trebles. That's how social media will be in the future, two GOATs competing in the same ERA unlike Maradona and Pele

Hope he stays but if he wants to leave and we receive a good fee then so be it.

I don't understand why a few people are trying to revise his legacy. He's easily the best Barca player in history and arguably the best player in football history.

I can imagine the conversation:

Koeman: Leo, let's cut to the chase. We want to make this team fast and hungry, like in the past... That game vs Bayern can't happen again. Ever.

Messi: Uhmm, ok... I'm listening.

Koeman: I know you don't wanna hear this... but we can't do it with the veterans playing as they did in the last few years.

Messi: I don't know what you're talking about, it's the managers. We're still the best, not our fault Bartomeu hired only bad managers. Since Pep, only Valverde understood and cared for us... on a deeply human level you know? Like, from the heart...

Koeman: I know but, listen, we have to let Suarez go...

Messi: What? I open up to you like this, and you give me shit? No fucking way. If he goes, I'll go. I'll give you Busi. Busi can go. Fuck him, never liked him much. This guy never scores. He told me once he only goes up in the box to see the play from close and be the first one to congratulate me when I save their asses.

Koeman: Busi heh? Ok, Busi, I'll take it. I wanted to use De Jong DM anyway. Now we're talking. Who else? Give me a good one now...

(thinks for 1 minute)

Messi: Braithwaite, he's a veteran.

Koeman: You're shitting me? I mean important players.

(thinks for another minute)

Messi: Ok, you can take Pjanic.

Koeman: But... he didn't even join the team.

Messi: Even better, tell him to stay in Turin. Don't bother coming.

Koeman: Can't do it man, have to be current players. The fans want at least 2 main ones. How about Alba?

Messi: Fuck no! He's the only one that gives me the ball. Take Pique, he said he wants to focus on Tennis more the other day, wants to revolutionize the Davis Cup. But don't tell him I said this. And Vidal. Fucker played much better in Copa America...

Koeman: Ok, so, Busi, Vidal, and Pique. Ok, man, I think I can just about sell it. Deal?

Messi: Deal. But don't touch Suarez or Alba. No monkey business, no shenanigans, be a man of your word. If you know what's best for you...

5 mins after, on a whatsapp group:

Leo: Jordi, Luis, I got you off fuckers. You owe me big time... Had to cut others though... needed to give him something, make him think he's won the argument.

Jordi: Who?

Leo: Geri and Arturo. Had to do it man.

Jordi: Can't believe he fell for Arturo. He's not even a real amigo. Ja ja ja.

Luis: Ha! You played him. Better than us. Btw, Sofia said she liked the sweater very much, the stitching is perfect, Anto is the best as usual.

Messi: Ok, I tell her. We're happy she liked it.

Alba: Ok, talk later.

Messi: Bye.

Luis: Bye.

Awesome. Probably spot on.

They'll be singing his praises the next time he has a good performance.

Evidence of Messi being the reason we keep certain players around: shitty tabloid rumours.

Evidence Messi hasn't thrown a tantrum to keep/sign players he wants: Fabregas let go, never trying to sign Aguero (probs his two closest/longest friends).

Can mods just change this thread to clown opinions on Messi if this carries on?

You realize that perception is reality right? Evidence means nothing

I think you forgot that Pele and Maradona had the better teammates too than Messi in NT. Longevity and being in the top for years competition against another GREAT like Cristiano while breaking records is the reason why I will rate Messi above than Pele and Maradona. I won't judge players in a one month event iin what 7 games ?

I have obviously only watched some highlights of Maradona, and clearly he was incredibly good, but i dont really understand how he could be better than Messi.

They are comparable dribblers, perhaps comparable playmakers, but Messi is a far superior goalscorer, so there isnt much of an argument for Maradona is there?

The only things Maradona have over Messi is a few more clutch performances for NT and "leadership".
World cup title is huge, but Messi's club career looks far better, people can decide for themselves but i know which one i value more.

Pele is a different discussion.

Lol we have been trying to sign aguero for 5-6 years. Add Di Maria on the list too

We couldn't sign them because psg and city were telling us to fk off

If he really wants to leave we should sell him imo. He has earned the right to leave if he wants to + we would probably get a huge pile of money for him. Id rather take 100m than a Messi that wants to leave + reaching the end of his career.

Unfortunately the only source for this statistic is when they pop up on the screen when a player is being substituted. Uefa used to put it for every player now for some reason they stopped and they put the accumulation of distance covered throughout the tournament which is useless if u ask me.
Any way.. Prime Suarez was alway on 10.5 on a good day, above 10 even in a bad day. Nowadays he is always around 9 sharp. Which is a 10% drop.

I've genuinely never seen news on us trying to sign Aguero but the fact of the matter is we didn't sign him did we, yet found 120m for Griezmann (more than enough to sign Aguero). For Di Maria, is that the same Di Maria smashing it for PSG and in the champions league final who we never ended up signing too?

[SER] Messi is pissed off, but he is thinking about staying at Barcelona

Messi has zero ambition or desire left as a footballer.
Just want to live happy life with his family.
Guess he should just retire if that's the only thing he truly wants now.

So you're his therapist I assume? How else would you have intimate details about his ambitions and motivations
