I can see club winning this legal battle, but also Messi as well. COVID literally brought world to a halt, football was non existant for 3 months so it makes sense to argue that June date would not fit.

Well, it's a special season. Cavani left middle of the season because his contract ended.

Silva signed short-term extension to play with PSG in the CL etc. To me it looks like Messi should have left when he had chance. (Compared to others). It's pretty weird though. It's not like he could have left middle of the season.

How can he leave when we still had a chance to win the league and the Champions League? It was basically the middle of the season. He had no time to reflect or to think because the season was still going on. That's why he has that exit clause every year.... in case he wants to leave. If he feels the team isn't on the right path or that we're just not good enough, he has every right to activate that exit clause. He had no chance to think about his future because the season was still going on.

Unfortunately Bartomeu cares more about his legacy (already ruined thanks to his own doing) than the image and interest of the club and its future. Bartomeu knows damn well he isn't winning this battle. He's just doing this to save face. He can just say that he did everything in his power to stop Messi from leaving. If it goes to the courts, Messi will win..... or they'll come to an agreement between the player and the club.
