Lionel Messi - v7

Bartomeu isn't a good president and made many wrong decisions but he certainly wasnt bad to Messi, he gave him an astronomical salary, kept his friend Suarez for at least two too many seasons and hired yes men for managers to allow him to have so much power and do what he wants when he wants on and off the field. Also why does the free exit clause exist in the contract of the club's most valueable player in first place? I doubt many other club presidents would allow something like this, it's bad for the club but good for Messi. So Messi realizing now the lack of "sporting project" and that the board is bad isn't deceiving anyone, or apparently it does.

Optimistic scenario: Bartomeu is just playing hardball to get the best deal possible from City. Their board is not very flexible with transfers and he wants to ensure that the club gets the best deal possible since a lot of marketing money will be lost with Messi gone

Pessimistic scenario: Bartomeu is a piece of shit, and he is willing to take Messi to court to refuse his transfer. Lose lose scenario for both barto and Messi

Realistic scenario: there is a clause in his contract not allowing him to play for top European leagues, hence barto is fighting tooth and nail to keep him, even offering his resignation. Barto has probably given a deadline to messis legal team (probably Monday) to see which direction they choose to go. Ultimately, barto has to accept messis wish and let him go BUT not for free. This is where it gets very tricky because city probably knows this too and wouldn’t want to pay a cent if they don’t have to

The 'negotiate' from Messi and his lawyers end seems to be about him leaving on a free and not going to court, again.. benefiting Messi and shitting on Barca

apart from the usual trash swap rumours, i haven't seen anything credible regarding City paying a penny for him

The FC Messi gang insulting a lot of the users in this forum should be moderated more. Some very unacceptable replies in this thread. Disgusting

Lol. Funny considering it is the people talking shit about Messi that seems to be the biggest problem in this thread for the last couple of werks.

I agree completely. However it depends on how they defined "top European team" in the contract.

If contract says he cant to to other top Europe leagues then City better pay. I still think best course of action is realistic payout (40M + 50-60M if CL/PL is won). He is in last year of his contract, 33yr old, absolutely biggest legend ever to play in any club, with us since forever...but lets see.

Messi and the board are turning it into a full circus.

The board are absolutely idiotic for holding Messi against his will. We have absolutely nothing to gain from this as a club and on team level.

Sit down with City and negotiate a fee for fucks sake. Deal with this like men.

Barcelona says that it has not received the message from Messi (about not coming tomorrow to take the PCR tests) but it has been sent. At the moment there is no response from the club. @Alfremartinezz

lmao

You?re out of your mind if you think that?s a realistic fee even during covid. If it?s 60 m+ KDB + Garcia + Jesus then sure

That's a garabge deal dawg. We are selling Messi here not a pack of crispies.
So you propose 150m for Messi, who had less then year on contract and is 33yr old? And is trying to get out for free as well? No wonder this will turn to absolute shitshow.

Messi will want out, project and team are garbage, they wont sell and fallout will be spectacular. Kinda makes you wonder why Ronaldo, Figo etc. thought Real was better with business shit.
