Lionel Messi - v7

Here's why the theory never made sense. We don't know them or what goes on behind the scenes. What if, when he was saying this team isn't good enough, he was talking about the older players. He has known them a long time and isn't going to say you're not good enough anymore and you need to leave. That is the job of the board.

What if the theory behind his leaving is when he found out koeman told pique, busi and alba they are staying? We can speculate, but we'll never truly know.

Theory makes perfect sense. It may be wrong, sure, as nobody knows exactly the nature of the problem, but there's a lot to make you think that after the board, the amigos are main responsible for this shit.

I believe it's actually the predominant opinion.

I think it’s more the case of hearing Bartomeu saying Ter Stegen, Lenglet, Semedo etc are unsellable when in reality they aren’t top class players.
We’ve never replaced Alves, Xavi, Iniesta, Neymar properly and I think Messi probably sees no future in a project where the players who had at least previously won things are sellable but the Semedos etc aren’t. It’s probably nothing personal he just doesn’t see a winning project built around those kind of players.

With smarter investments back in 2016 we could of definitely had the best players currently in their 20s coupled with the 32 year old winning veterans and younger players breaking through.

He obviously wants to win. But at the same time, him and his friends are a bit delusional. They made a lot of mistakes.

- In February he said we’re not good enough to win the Champions League
- In May he said it again that if they play like they were before they won’t win the Champions League
- Then after the Osasuna defeat he said “We are a weak team who can be beaten with enough intensity and enthusiasm”

Not sure how that’s him being delusional, the theory that he’s “happy losing as long as he’s with his amigos” is BS.

And now he’s leaving he won’t be with any of them, which proves it’s not about amigos, it’s about being humiliated 3/4 years in a row, the team getting worse, the board shifting blame onto the players constantly etc.

He is the only one who came out and said we are not good enough. Only one who put blame on players last year.
In hindsight, Messi might be the only veteran who knew from the start that the team we had is done.

Lewandowski was almost inexistent from our match against Bayern until the final. The others stepped up and that's what we need, everyone to carry their weight. Unfortunately the only ones who did that was Messi and Stegen.

Problem is this team needs players who can run, and most of the amigos are unfit for this level. You just can't go around this problem. And that's not on the younger players, but on them.

Messi and the Amigos have gotten themselves out of the things that need changing, and expect the club to find solutions with us winning and them changing little. When in reality they need to change a lot as well.

So, if we all agree that the main collective problems were, 1) poor transfers for huge money, and 2) poor fitness and intensity, the amigos are totally unable and unwilling to do anything about 2).

And out of 1) and 2) we can only do something about 2) currently, since we have no money to improve the team with solid signings.

Exactly. I didn't want to bring up that match because it's just one game, but that's exactly the point. Not just that one either, but look at every big match Bayern has played and won this year: most of the time Lewandowski wasn't the outright best player and the team as a whole played incredible football.

We need more players who can do something when we need a goal. Look at Griezmann, he is the first one who gets invisible when things dont work like it should. With these players you cant win CL.

Yea, and half a year earlier, he said they are to blame after the 0-4 against Liverpool. Odds are, in february he was pissed Valverde was let go and Neymar wasn't signed.

Btw him wanting Neymar back, doesn’t that show he recognised the team was weak, if he was happy with just him and Suarez up front then he wouldn’t want Neymar back. Whatever people say about Neymar, he would have improved our team/attack massively. Donkey Suarez, bad fit Griezmann played out of position, 17 year old Fati, injured Dembele.... no wonder he wanted Neymar back. Was a pretty successful formula, instead of buying prospects for 100m+ and hoping they’ll fit.

Anyway, it doesn't matter anymore. Messi wants the team improved with top class players so the veterans can challenge playing like they are. As a club, we can't do that. We need reconstruction, and Messi doesn't want any part of that.

I can live with that, and I don't hate Messi for wanting out. Just don't play the victim card because nobody in the team is blameless.

The problem with this theory is we've been starting to get blown out in CL with Neymar on, vs PSG, and Juve. 0-4, and 0-3. I doubt Neymar would've made much difference this season, in worse conditions than in 2017, with players who are 3 years older and even slower, less mobile and less hardworking than at that time.

The main weakness of the team, the one every opponent exploits, and we all know which one, can't be resolved in any other way than by reconstructing the team with fresh legs in nearly all positions, especially the ones where you need to press to stand a chance.

So what happens now? They go to court to determine of he is legally still a barca player?
No- leaves for a free
Yes- kept a year for 50 mil against his will then leaves on a free

Barto should have talked wiyh Messi and agreed to a clean 100 mil fee.

We lack money and he makes shit even worse.

Sigh... I thought I was through with this bullshit, but seeing the video of fans waiting at the Ciutat Esportiva for Messi at 10.15 and looking disappointed realizing he's not coming still stung like hell. :( Just overall disappointed in general now.
