Lionel Messi - v7

Thinking we'll sink to Sevilla level is just as out of place as thinking that Messi leaving isn't a big loss and further dent to our ongoing fall from being a guaranteed European top 5 club.

It is a big loss but Messi was a gift and a burden.

While he is awesome, he is killing all of our other players.

Remember matches when Messi was injured against RM.
Or against Napoli this preseason.
We were flying all over the pitch.

And after 20-30 matches when players will build more chemistry, we'll be ok.

Short term we won't win anything.
Long term, you guys will get "your Barca" back.

While Messi is here, we could never play like a team-Barca.
This was Fc Messi and 10 helpers.

Messi is trying to negotiate but Bartomeu is being far too stubborn.

I too think this is the case.

However, another option could be that City can't afford Leo (because of FFP) and getting him for free is the only option.

Again, FUCKING NEGOTIATE.

Just speculation on my part, but I think Koeman scared Messi away - he must have said something Messi didn't like and now Messi is acting like a spoiled brat. Not classy at all from Messi if that is the case.

Barto bssically cut the phone off to avoid negotiations.
Like a little kid putting his hands before his eyes: if i cant see them they cant see me.
Such a stubborn idiot.

I dont get this point of view. Barca is forcing his hand like that if he wants to leave.

Man City can afford him. Besides, the FFP has been relaxed due to COVID. Also, it isn't stopping Chelsea from spending. They're about spend over 200m euros this summer.

Skysports :

Messi relationship with Koeman is strained and beyond repair. Koeman told these things to Messi :

Vidal and Suarez will be sold
His privilege are gone in the Team
There will be no signings due to Covid 19
He has to work for the team from now on

Im disgusted by Messi at this point to be honest. Two weeks away from the first game of the season and he is trying to leave on a free from the club which since his childhood gave him everything. Its not about Bartomeu but he should atleast respect the fans.

Im glad he is leaving. I wrote many times the last years that once he is gone a proper rebuild will start. And as I wrote yesterday, lets not forget that our best games the last years where we played the best football was WITHOUT Messi. With a proper sporting department I'm not worried.

But he should show respect to the club and fans.

All of these things have a point but straight-out telling someone "your privileges here are over and you have to work for the team from now on" is not a clever way to approach in the first meeting to reach what you want. Messi might be spoilt, but if this is true and went down just like that Koemann doesn't seem to be a particularly good communicator or motivator either.

Nah... it's good that he makes things clear from the start. This kind of decisiveness and clarity from manager to players is what has been lacking. We're coming after arguably the worst defeat in the last 50 years in the history of the club. Time for sugar coating things is done and dusted.

Messi needs to understand what are the rules of the game from now on, so he can make up his mind if he's in or out. It seems he's out, so we need to let him go.

At this point, we need to keep the players who are really interested in committing to a new project 100%.
