Croatians haven't done a comeback, especially against a side equal or better than them, in ages. Think last result like that was Nations League vs France at home where managed a penalty, and we all know France arent exactly always.. present.

It's no accident they played for a draw vs Brazil and even to an extent vs Japan - they banked on fortitude and resilience in penalties. Modric said as much alluding to RM mentality. Which does not incidentally imply they'd do comebacks like Real, because simply they don't have that much attacking quality. This year only likes of Canada or Austria were within reach for multi-goal showings.

If Modric openly speaks about penalty disrupting their plans for match, it's probably because they were counting on not conceding and kind of fell apart once did.

In a funny way I'd expect more fight or adjustment to being outclassed out of Morocco if same thing happens tonight. Here more of a matter whether France blunder and/or capitalise on them opening up if the French do go 1-0 up.

They were minutes from going out to Brazil and equalised then won on penalties having conceded in ET also. That is a comeback to turn tie around.

Doesnt matter if it is in 90 minutes or not really as have not had to before yesterday.

They didnt crumble then.

Didn't claim they did or had to, nor is this a way to claim that Argies werent a better side or didnt control them in a game
Point was they've not been the kind of side to be famous for turning around and start outplaying opponent when under duress. That's not the extent of their fightback. They try to drag games out vs better side and ride on confidence in pens. Not a surprise considering history

They turned round game v Brazil to go through.

Turned round game with Japan when behind.

Turned round game when losing to Canada

At last World cup were losing to England and came back etc.

Game before England were losing to Russia.

Fair few comebacks.

Not engaging with the point that's being made
They come back to draw, especially vs better opponents.
Can come back to win in regulation vs equal or weaker side
Didn't here
Shouldn't be expected of them to start outplaying and comeback to beat Argentina since didn't do that vs better side in a while

Yes come back to draw/win then progress.

That is what they have been good at.

Thye did it v Brazil.

Were minutes from going out and progressed. That being in ET doesnt matter to anyone but you it seems.

No one was claiming or expecting Croatia to comeback and beat Argentina in 90 mins anyway.

Doesnt matter to me, just a pattern
Do it in regulation vs weaker side
Normally try to take it to ET on draw or when losing and get goal back vs better side, but even scantly pursue win in ET when get their equalizer, regardless of quality of opponent

Haha there is no need to 'do it in regulation'.

At 2018 World Cup they went behind to Denmark, Russia and England and progressed each time in the knock outs.

At 2022 World Cup they went behind v Japan and progressed and went behind v Brazil and progressed.

That is 5 of their last 6 world cup knock out games they went behind in and progressed.

They went behind v Canada in group also and won the game.

Thats why folk were not writing the off when 1-0 down.

Fairly simple stuff really.
