You just know that Ronaldo fanboy will be there to ruin it for him in the final. Fucking hate that kid and his antics.

Calma. Leo dropped a semi-stinker vs Brazil and still won the Copa. It doesn't depend only on him this time, his team is actually good.

I expect a good game from him though, he will give his all. At least 8/10 in Messi standards. This WC final has the biggest hype in ages, I cannot wait.

imo France are a superior team to this Argentina, despite their offence having relative low quality offense decision making, but they still seem stacked with plenty of offensive options and a balanced team in general. The reason Argentina has a chance is because of Messi, and that can be beneficial to them if they play off Messi well like they have in previous games. As England kind of showed, France can be got at if one can finish and attack them.

Been reading the 2014 thread and it is…interesting.

The main talking point, even before the final was that Leo was suffering from fitness issues, the vomiting etc. Those were truly sad times.

Many people said that he wasn‘t the same like 2009-2012 (which was true) and that there was probably no way back. That he maybe had one more chance in Russia.

Granted, regardless of the outcome on Sunday, we should be grateful for how things played out.

Leo came back from the 2014 WC and chose violence. Probably his best version ever in 2015, then a step back in 2016 and then 3 great seasons between 2017 and 2019 (more or less). And even after that, there were still many moments/periods of magic, including the 2021 Copa. Could have won a CL or two more, but it is what it is :valverde:

All in all, no one can take away the magic and all the beautiful moments. Let‘s hope that he can add a final chapter to this beautiful story on Sunday.

Thank goodness Alvarez exists. It should be him, Messi and Di Maria starting

Di Maria should stay on the bench, he has barely played in this WC and has fitness issues. Don‘t fix something if it ain‘t broken. Throw him in in the second half if Arg need a goal.

Argentina have been better without Di Maria and he cannot be fit.

In last few games they have been able to let Messi and Alvarez stay up the park in a two with 3/4 CMs behind them.

Where does Di Maria fit into that?

He isnt a CM and it would be change of approach.

Regardless he cant be fully fit and at best a later sub.

You usually win motm in wins. How many did he win in won games? Got to be a way higher percentage

Also does sunday basically determine the 2023 ballon dor winner by the way?
Say Argentina wins then surely its a lock for Messi? Even if psg crashes out against Bayern.

Same if France wins, they will give it to mbappe even if a giroud header wins them the wc.

If Argentina wins, it might be a lock for Messi.
If France win, it is probably for Mbappe. even if griezmann and giroud have been equally important, you just don't give them bdor.
Both Messi and Mbappe are on psg, so it won't be important what happens for them in cl.
Who else has a shout-out this season for bdor apart these two? Perhaps halland? But in a WC Year, it's the defining factor I think.
