People thought the same about Brady in 2013 and he's piled on record after record since then and made even the haters (including me) admit he's GOAT.

In tennis, due to Novak shattering all records, people don't call Federer THE GOAT much anymore. Sure there's still his fanbase (but even they are shaky in making the claim these days), but I meant the overall tennis community.

Big trophies matter a lot and the narrative of Messi winning PSG their 1st CL would be immense. As would CR7 winning United another CL.

Deleted by accident, here it is again.

Don't know about Brady, I'm from Europe after all, but regarding Novak. Dokovic will end his career with a record in (almost) all important categories like GSs, Masters, days at the top etc. Hard to argue with that. For Messi, it's quite different. He's competing with Maradona (only won Uefa cup once) and Pele (never even played in Europe), things are treated differently in football and international competitions have extra weight.

To put it like this: Messi winning the CL with this stacked PSG team will not change anyone's mind about his all time status. In fact, might have more impact if they didn't win it as clear favorites. Some users pointed out of this world tournament by Messi, that's another story.

All in all, CL is nice, but won't convince doubters he's the GOAT.

Nah Ronaldo has broken a bunch of r?cords and has won a lot, the gap between him and Messi isn't that big.

Who cares about the records, who held the international record before Ronaldo? They are not important, Messi is way ahead of Ronaldo because he is a much better player, that is not even debatable.

And Ronaldo has been way off of Messi for the past few years, why are people bringing this up all of a sudden? the debate has been over for a while.

With this lad as his teammate and best friend, Messi is in trouble when it comes to physical conditioning

Novak will probably end up with 25-ish slams and all the meaningful records (YE #1, Master's titles, GS, # weeks at # 1 etc.). Considering tennis is an individual sport, I doubt Federer will be THE TOP. He will always be among the GOATs though, that I agree.

Class is a subjective measure, by the way. GOAT isn't about class. Pele or Maradona before Messi were hardly the epitome of class. And to be honest, neither are Messi or CR7.

I was taking about a certain way of play, that kind of class. A style of play that surpasses in unquantifiable way other opponents. Messi has that. Federer too.I am not talking about personal human qualities, i am talking a certain artistry in their play, that Nadal/Djokovic or Ronaldo don't have, even though the results are the same or maybe slightly better.

Valverde speaks! Hints at player power and the dressing room dynamic but is professional as always.

Valverde speaks!

" was I too inexperienced for the champions league? I don't think so, I don't want to get into details now but the players all knew what to do once the opposition began to tire, I kept them on rather than make changes because of the game plan we agreed on together, if you want to know why we lost look at the chances missed each away leg compared to the chances we conceded. I am sad for the fans truly, we all wanted to bring back the champions league and we could have done it both times."

"A return to management? Maybe"

" Arguments with Messi and Iniesta? It's better people do not know the truth"
