When someone said right after july this year that messi is the best of the world. It's true.
But certainly he isn't atm. His condition isn't. Then of course leonardo wouldn't choose lewa ,salah ,haaland or benz over mbappe.

Hater logic is based on team performance. Does that mean Messi was shit in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014 when Barca didn't win CL? :lol: Did you even watch Messi post-Lucho period when the real club decline started? The only other good player on the squad was Luis Suarez with tons of shit transfers and declining amigos. Real Madrid won 4 CL in the period which still hurts some of the Barca fans, but have to admit post 2015 they built an unbelievable winner mentality squad which ended with Cristiano's greed.

You cant compare the Messi of 2016-2019 when he was top with current Messi though

He changed his style of play to match his declining speed. That's the only decline, which is natural at his age, I see - he's more effective to influence the game roaming the central area, sticking on the right wing is most of the time pointless.

After Messi won the Ballon d'Or, he booked a select club to celebrate and several of his teammates attended, but the next day both Messi and Leandro Paredes missed training due to gastroenteritis symptoms, which annoyed their colleagues who demanded a stronger response from Pochettino and Leonardo (L’Equipe)
