From what I have seen at PSG, Messi is out of form and also struggling from the team not 100% adapting and being built around his movements. Everything in Barcelona was built around him with 10 years experience from the teams core members to telepathically build the plays for Messi. Trainings were likely built around Messi, certainly in the Ernesto what is running phase Valverde phase.
PSG kind of get it for a play or two, and Mbappe, Verratti can do it in singular actions because they are that good, but as a team they are unsynced with moving around a single player- absolutely natural. Messi is probably in denial of what he can and can not do. The average player in France is less technical but more physical than Messi one-on-one and it is showng.
But come Feb 15, all will be forgotten if PSG get a favourable result and Messi has an influencial game or even action. Forgotten atleast until the return leg, and then the quarter final 1st leg and then the etc, etc,
