From what I have seen at PSG, Messi is out of form and also struggling from the team not 100% adapting and being built around his movements. Everything in Barcelona was built around him with 10 years experience from the teams core members to telepathically build the plays for Messi. Trainings were likely built around Messi, certainly in the Ernesto what is running phase Valverde phase.

PSG kind of get it for a play or two, and Mbappe, Verratti can do it in singular actions because they are that good, but as a team they are unsynced with moving around a single player- absolutely natural. Messi is probably in denial of what he can and can not do. The average player in France is less technical but more physical than Messi one-on-one and it is showng.

But come Feb 15, all will be forgotten if PSG get a favourable result and Messi has an influencial game or even action. Forgotten atleast until the return leg, and then the quarter final 1st leg and then the etc, etc,

good post

Anyways, PSG rely a lot on Mbappe and Verratti, if one of them isnt available for a knockout match in cl they are crap. As bad as Ney has been often he could be crucial too in big games because oppenents will always focus on him so Mbappe and Messi have more space to combine.

neymar hasnt had a good game for PSG since he helped eliminate bayern a year or two ago (cant remember when that was exactly)

since then hes been either injured, partying, or completely ineffective

for all their names, right now PSG is Mbappe FC. hes the only one consistently winning games for them/making things happen

deep inside I think every messi fan is shocked about his season, all those dudes from twitter spread propaganda, just like every fanbase. that ganesh guy was the same who mocked several times Ligue 1 before Messi went to PSG for example

Look I defended Messi for a incredibly long time longer than most. He will forever be my GOAT and his legacy is secured whatever happens from now on is a bonus.

What is clear however is greed has ruined the career he has had left. If it weren't for that 550m contract we could have resigned Neymar and so many superstars to help keep the team competitive like he wanted.

I don't do revisionist history which is why I didn't suddenly start "praising" the Uber Eats Ligue, because Messi's scoring record there is shockingly bad (as of right now). It's a joke league and it'll be a joke league for the forseeable future.

He's scored 5 in 5 games against a CL group consisting of City and RB Leipzig, which is a pretty strong group. Why is why I'm not convinced he's absolutely finished at the top level despite his Ligue 1 struggles. He also was pretty good in the Arg WCQ only 2-3 months ago. What seems to be the case is that Messi doesn't give 100% of what he has left in the tank for Ligue 1. Which is in line with a flaw he's always had as a player - not being cutthroat enough about his legacy/narrative.

Now, if he drops an absolute disaster class v RM (irrespective of the outcome), then we can more conclusively say he's finished at the top level. Not sure why his funeral is being written over Uber Eats league when he's good for his age (and mileage) in CL and WCQ this season.

Apparently you can't read what I said. French National Cup is worth as much as the blank printer paper.

We need to see the outcome in CL KOs and Arg to say he's finished at the top level.

But you need match rhythm and form to turn up in champions league.

very easy to ignore inconvenient truths (easy league/cub so who cares)

1000000000% if messi had 30 goals in france theyd be falling over the floor screaming for another bdor

but because the facts dont suit the narrative

im not so sure--theres a difference between scoring and playing well. you are right though that he did score a couple of important goals, especially the one against city.

Tru. His general play in all the group stage matches was quite poor. He dropped a 4/10 away to City and was probably heading for similar territority in the home match until the goal.
