Messi and his dad owe Laporta an apology. They overplayed their hand last summer asking for too much money and now Barca has moved on while they are having to beg the club to rescue him out of Paris.

How much reliability this rumour has?
I wanna see a reliable reporter actually reporting it.

If true, it would be CRIMINAL to grant him his wish.
Hope Laporta has more sense in him

He didnt.

In reality Laporta was wanting to put Messi on 50m a year and pay him for years after he left.

The league rules stopped it happening and CVC not allowing Barca into Super League.

Was not a football decision to let Messi go. Quite the opposite.

CR did want to go back this summer though but Flo snubbed him.

They were actively trying to get Tebas to change the rules to pay Messi that money.

Were desperate to keep him on huge contract.

Messi was always defined by the speed to which he could get in the box after getting involved in upper midfield areas. That is lost. He can't escape players anymore because his pace is not there and never will be.

He would have been a fine no 10 a la Modric if he had a fighter bone in him and a much better work ethic. But just doesn't have any of those qualities. You can tell Modric is old and slow these days, but boy he works his ass off to the max every time.

Spot on, he can still be a world class 10 cause he's still good with the ball and still has his passing abilities, but he just needs to add that work ethic now. Dunno if its possible though

Don't think it's possible

The only way to try to mitigate that would be to surround him with players with high workrate like he does at Argentina NT.
