Hilarious how after such a game the same idiots come in here to criticise Messi. Ignoring the fact that all veterans and previously underperforming players are flying now.

But somehow they have to make it about how Messi(best player in the team before he left) would have pulled Xavi's game back and we wouldn't have won tonight.

Truly pathetic individuals.

I'm content we managed to cut away from Messi because his influence on how we play is too strong as he ages. But as you say, all data suggests that Messi would be excellent in this Barcelona with Xavi managing.

But I don't think we could have this lineup with Messi still here. I don't know if we could have even registered Depay.

Xavi would have to change the system to accommodate him. The RW in Xavis set up has to create width and whip crosses in. This allows the RB to be an inverted wingback. If Messi plays at RW, we have no width - we would need an overlapping RB for it, which leaves Busi more vulnerable.

Cannot start instead of Auba/CF too. The presence in the box is needed, and we also use the CF a bit like a target man in build-up to switch to the other half-space, Messi cannot do that.

Obviously cannot start at LW as lacks pretty much everything to play there. No speed, no offensive work rate, wrong preferred leg, wrong preferred moves.

This is without mentioning his work rate, which is minus one player in defense and counterpressing.

This team finally learns to play without passing to him unconditionally in every attack. Let us just move on. There is no place for him in this Barca as a player. I certainly do not want another system with a 10 allowed as much freedom as he was.

Pipe down lad. It’s hilarious seeing you boys cope now that Barca is flying after all that shameless celebrating and taunting earlier in the season when the team was struggling.

Don’t wanna hear jack from you lot until you’re ready to grovel before BBZ for forgiveness and accept the monstrosity of an L he will bestow upon you.

Cant play like did tonight with Messi simple as that.

He has not scored or assisted v Real in years and all three of the recent pumpings of Real have been without Messi in the team.

There is no logical reason to go back to slower football to cover for Messi not running and everything goes through him at his pace.

The rules of Messi fan boys... Barca struggle without him.. they miss Messi.. Barca win without him... Messi would still make team better.

Can focus on making his own team better now.

Your fetish with bigging up BBZ's Ws and completely overlooking his Ls is getting pretty cringe, not going to lie

Nice hypocricy considering many of the Messi boys would race to this thread celebrating every poor Barca result earlier in the season to take shots at the likes of BBZ/Kattanib and enjoy how it made Messi look better.

Crazy to think 1 year ago, people who suggested Messi being the issue on here were attacked and now it's become the common consensus and most of the evidence is on the pitch. No world class players, no GOATs yet were are playing some of our best football in years as a TEAM.

I don't get the hate for him though, he's the GOAT (prime Messi) and gave us so much joy. Some might say 'well he joined P$G, that traitor' but remember Messi himself didn't actually want to leave, PSG were his only option.
