[Hadrien Grenier] PSG has decided to part with all its Argentinian internationals with the exception of Leo Messi. Leandro Paredes and Mauro Icardi are invited to leave the club this summer. Angel Di Maria is already departing.

Emir taking out his amigos

Messi would be taken out too for his performance, but he is required to stay to advertise World Cup 2022. January 2023 is when it gets dicey for him tbh. Hopefully Neymar leaves alongside him and screws the team over. Because Mbappe will for sure be gone.

Next season will be a shambles anyway, for all clubs. Many players will be careful not to get injured in Autumn before the WC. Then there is a month of WC + some weeks of sitting out for the ones that make the KOs and go deep into the competition. Injuries during the WC will also influence the teams.

Messi will be either disappointed by another WC failure or euphoric by completing his career with a WC win. So rest of the season for PSG won't matter either way. Plus he'll already be packing his bags by Spring as he certainly won't trigger that 1 year extension(PSG might not want that either).

So if he hasn't won the CL this year with PSG, he certainly won't give a fuck about it in 2023.

Messi will be desperate for another CL as he was this season.

The WC in between that will not make any difference to him as PSG can cruise through group and focus on CL in way few other top clubs can when league resumes.

They have better set up to win it than anyone else most likely when have no domestic competition.

IMO, if on the off chance Argentina wins the WC, Messi won't bother playing another game for PSG. Even the CL next season will be irrelevant.

There is nothing missing from his CV at that point. Absolutely nothing.

By this time next year don't think he'll be motivated enough. WC will take its toll on him mentally, depending what happens there of course. But a disaster at WC surely won't motivate him mid season.
