Every big teams face rough periods. Look at Liverpool, Inter, Milan, United, RM (when barca had pep). Real Madrid got back from their slump because of money and power. We also have money, power and a great youth system. I am sure we will be back sooner than all of those above clubs. Only thing that could stop us from reaching top is our own board. Every time team manages to play bad manager becomes a scapegoat. Same happened with tata and now happening with Lucho. The current board should be the one who is to be blamed for this situation.
We should be more patient imo. Same happened with Rijkard, but he managed to turn things around. Sacking a coach every season is not gonna solve our problems. This is only just deteriorating the situation, what is the guarantee that we will win all trophies if we get a world class manager. Anyway all good coaches already signed up with big teams. Sacking lucho now will be a very dumb move without a proper replacement. Give lucho some time and let him figure something out. He also should start benching players who are not listening to him. We are only 2 points behind league leaders, if we solve some our problems in next 2 or 3 weeks we will be back in the competition.
Even i was filled with lot of pessimism these past few days, but after rethinking i knew i was overreacting. We were just unlucky to not win against Celta. And if messi scored that open goal everything could have been different (not that i blame him, he is trying his best). We are underestimating the momentum and morale a team gets from a win and defeat. We are not playing in some segunda division, every team will try to use our situation and play their game of life. Ajax will try to do the same thing, lucho should use some of simeone notes from now on until team is set. Play every match like it is the CL final. That is what we lack (and also our stupid formation, especially midfielders covering FB's). In short i know lucho is not the best coach tactically but with the options in the market i would gladly stick with him and let him figure out things in his own time.
I know barca is a great club and we should aim for all trophies but it is completely unrealistic. Let us face it our system is dead, our best players are getting older and older. We lost some warriors like Puyol and we still are living pep shadow (lucho should stop imitating him, he should imprint his own authority). Just look at United, one season they won EPL very grandly and next season they placed 7th and are still struggling. Our situation is similar.
Anyway now more technical terms, 4-3-3 is the worst formation for the current set of players imo. Dani and Alba are the not the greatest defenders, and they are not offering much in attack either. Which is leaving us very vulnerable on wings. That is why midfielders are covering for them which makes the team very slow and also lack of chances for the forwards. That is one thing and other our abysmal set pieces, not only we concede in set pieces we also give chance for opposition to counter on our own set pieces. That absolutely killed us in madrid game. Their second goal game from their set piece and third came from our set piece and the first one came from stupid pen which could have easily been avoided. We should at least try playing 3-4-3 for some matches, or at least play Montoya as RB so that Rakitic can play with more freedom. Games against PSG, Valencia, Sevilla are the best milestones for progress from now on. Let us hope at least some of them will be verified by those matches. If nothing changes then there is no other choice but to sack lucho. Until then we should believe in our coach.
