I agree.

We sold Sanchez and Fabregas because we needed cash to buy Suarez, we sold Thiago Alcantara because we needed cash to buy Neymar.

I do not say that Naymar and Suarez aren’t good (their purchase was a top priority? Our main problem has always been the attack?)…. But at what price !! and I do not mean just financially (approx. 150mio!) but also looking at who we have given up, especially 2 midfielders that now they would help us a lot (Thiago Alcantara, I still cannot believe we sold him ).

Great posts. Imagine if we went with youth over age and dumped Xavi to MLS, kept Thiago. Dumped Pedro and kept Sanchez. Neymar and Suarez could of still come with the sales of Cesc and someone like Pique or Alves if we sold them a couple of years ago.

Now guys, take a look on the way that Real Madrid plays (vs. Liverpool right now). 2 central midfielders (Kroos and Modric), which IMO makes them a lot stronger defensively. That could be Rackitic and Busquets/Rackitic with Iniesta a bit further up the pitch - in a 'number 10 role' alongside Messi when attacking.

But no, let's stick with Rackitic babysitting Alves.

Rakitic is no DM, though... It should be Busi/Samper + Mascherano if we are going to use a double pivot... However, we have not received any awards for playing that way, so let's forget about it...

Lucho was pretty meh at Celta during the first half of last season, but Celta were one of the best sides in La Liga (among sides not named Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, or FC Barcelona) in the second half of the season. So we might see something similar.

My only hope. I just can't imagine Barca looking like this throughout the entire season. Either the players figure it out themselves or Scrubrique changes things. I have to say I don't see any improvements though. In fact it is looking worse as time goes by. As if Lucho had an idea and changed a few things (wide midfielders, high fullbacks, central wide forwards), it kinda worked for a while at the start but teams are already figuring it out in November. Even if we ignore the last 2 results the team is struggling to score goals. A team like Rayo putting its backline to the halfway line should have been put to the sword with 5 or 6 goals at least. Scoring against Athletic Bilbao shouldn't take more than 80 minutes while relying on a Laporte brainfart. Athletic are offering lots of space, they must be put to the sword in Camp Nou. Apoel game was dire. Malaga game was shambolic. Villarreal game could have gone either way with them hitting the woodwork twice and one individual Messi moment but okay, Villarreal are traditionally tough away from home. Only game where Barca looked like Barca was Ajax in the first half. But weirdly enough Scrubrique immediately commented after the game that you can't expect Barca to play like that all the time.

Also while his Celta side did get a lot better in the 2nd half of the season I don't know why people claim this also happened with Roma. His Roma side got worse. Counting only first half of the season Roma would have finished 6th. Counting only 2nd half Roma would have finished 11th. What happened at Celta could have been pure coincidence.

By the way. I've asked this before but no one answered because people thought I was joking in September. Doesn't the transfer ban include managers? I could have sworn when the news of the ban were new there was a "FAQ" and I thought I read Barca can't register new coach either. :lucho:

His Roma side got worse because his players turned on him (understandable considering he tried to alienate the legend that is Totti).

I have no idea, but I don't think so. It wouldn't make sense, it's just for the players.

I just realized Lucho was zubinepto's choice... He backed him up, wanted him already last season. That's not good for Lucho :lucho3:

I've never said that it's his fault that others are not good enough but to me, he shouldn't be starter anymore. His pointless crosses, his various blunders and his effortless defensive work is more than enough for me to make such a statement.

Yeah right. How is it his fault that Rakitic fail to cover him well enough. As for his crosses then we have Suarez now as target. As for blunders then everyone can make a mistake, no big deal. He plays a big role in our passing game and will be our starting RB this season so deal with it :coffee:
