at the time when luis players were to be transitioned into the team, pep left and the emphasis on bringing through barca B players dropped.

watching indeed does not equate to understanding.

did any player become key like busquets :lol:, great insight.

Only one coach developed talent, that was Pep - Busquets was the best but 22 youth players debuted under him - from the current squad, Pedro, Roberto, Bartra, Cuenca, Tello, Montoya & Dos Santos

Integration of players into the 1st team was down to Pep, period...Even Tito failed to do this despite being his right hand man

Taking a failed team into a success is a much more impressive task than taking a winner and getting them to advance further with more time

Pep reorganised the b team and got them going again after it had been neglected under Laporta.

But lets not act as if he produced miracles by gettting them out of the fourth tier. This was the lowest level the team had been at in the past 40 odd years.

That has nothing to do with Lucho though as he was never the first team coach so he couldn't possibly promote any players. And most of the players you mentioned who debuted under Pep were Lucho's players.

Many of Lucho's players (like Thiago, Bartra, Muniesa, Montoya, Romeu, Dos Santos) have/had the talent to become starters but things have happened along the way that slowed down their development, be it injuries, bad choices by the coaches, players or whatever; not to mention that it is a lot harder to get into the team nowadays than it was after Rijkaard's tenure. In any way, Lucho is not to blame for that as all of this happened after he left and, up to that point, they had been progressing phenominally under him.

My point was that players developed under Pep, both for the B team and 1st team...That's the only metric we can go by as no other coach can make that claim in the renewed era of an emphasis on the cantera

Luis Enrique would want 5 centre backs. Bartra, Mascherano, Pique and two signings, a more experienced player and a younger player. [sport]

Well well... Neutralized Madrid, looked by far the better team overall. In the past 17 games his team has only lost 5. It's pretty outstanding that he got a relegation side to gel so quickly under his system and improve to the extent that they have. No one can doubt his potential as a coach, he really does know how to get the best out of his team.

Whoever watched the Celta - Madrid game, I want to know only this: did Celta's players run their asses off?

It was a weakened Madrid side. Impressive nonetheless.

Very much so. Anytime Lucho faces a team that's superior on the ball to them (big sides pretty much) his team plays even more aggressive and end to end than usual in pressing. This + an organized defensive structure kept Madrid fairly silent for the entire match. The hard, never-ending pressing is what caused both of their goals as well (Charles running down to force errors and then score).

Nice. Hope that means the motivation part is sorted. He'll also have more authority than Tata due to being a club legend and possibly having Puyol on his coaching staff (which will also help get our players to run their asses off).

Complete control for Luis Enrique then. Whoever he thinks has no future in this team, no matter the name, should be sold. Whoever he wants should be bought if possible.

@DonAndres thanks for the info.
