What happened during Pep made us, as fans, predisposed to overrating players simply by looking at their style, outside of their quality. We see someone who reminds us a bit of Xavi, and think he is the next Xavi, without looking at anything else but style. And, the same, we trash players who can be of good use, because their qualities are different.
True, in bits..... We, here in the forum, definitely overrate youngsters who seem remotely similar to our stars.
However, having that said, it is board's-scouting team's duty to find quality players, they're paid for it! Please don't say that there aren't players even remotely good enough who play in the style of our stars. The board kept on feeding us this bull shit, just to cover their own inability to find quality players or their unwillingness to spend money or something.
I mean we were always told that it was tough to find mid fielders with Barca DNA and let go of Modric only to buy an inferior Cesc for example. We did not buy Suarez for some stupid feeling only to buy David Villa coz he's more
proven. (Not that I complain having Villa, he did well for us but we could have used Suarez!) We bought Paco saying he's more proven and let go of Gabriel Jesus who would have been of much more use for us!
We bought Verma after he
proved himself but we were busy negotiating for Chygrinskyi when Verma was out to prove himself in London. Not to mention the umpteen number of Douglass that the stupid board wasted the money on!
